So you read this and lots of things to do if he is to play on Saturday.

Just my guess is he is out until USF...that hit looked vicious...the picture is damning as it looks like #44 clearly saw the release of the ball and still loaded his body up to deliver a severe blow. It would be interesting what instructions #44 had pregame from his coaches?

Most of those were already handled yesterday. I think the biggest issue will be light sensitivity. That's going to come today. This, of course, assumes he had a concussion.

So I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...from the medical guys...any idea on the % of times you lose consciousness and you have concussion symptoms?

#44 should have been charged with some crime. Using deadly force maybe.

Player must be symptom free (no headaches or sensitivity to light) for 24 hours (all day today, Sunday). Then the process begins to return to play. First day back is bike (Monday), then a light jog the next day (Tuesday). Then increased activity (Wednesday), and then non contact full practice (Thursday), the fully cleared (Friday). If player has any symptoms during any of the progressions, he returns back to step one.

It really is case by case but best-case scenario is a 5 day absence and fully cleared for this week. But that is absolute best case.

really didnt look like a concussion they way he walked off the field. more like neck. but to tell if he was knocked out

  • "The severity of a concussion is done retrospectively, not on the day of injury. The severity of the concussion, with or without loss of consciousness, is determined in the following day or days/weeks by evaluating any and all symptoms of Post Concussive Syndrome, and resolution of symptoms will be different for each individual based on prior history and present severity."
Today is a big day in terms of assessment of Dungey's condition. Assuming all is relatively well, I don't think we will see ED before USF game three weeks from now. To be honest, I am hoping that Dungey does not play against LSU. Dungey is the future of the program. I'm more than OK with holding him out if there is any doubt whatsoever.

Yeah, there is no need in my eyes for him to be rushed back. If he's 100% that's one thing. But my guess is he's not 100%.

We knew for this season to play out the way we hoped we needed to start 3 and 0 because beating LSU was going to be unlikely. Well, mission accomplished. The rest of the season matters more. Wilson and Mahoney get a good prep week, we see what happens Saturday, everyone gets a break, and then we hunt for 3 more wins with 8 games to play against a schedule where that doesn't sound unreasonable.

First, I hope ED is able to play against LSU because he wasn't hurt that bad (meaning a little sore, no concussion). That was maybe the biggest cheap shot I've ever seen in football outside of Charles Martin on Jim McMahon.

But I want ED to get experience against an elite team, as well. Just show we can have a few small victories like being tied after the first or second quarter. Evading the pass rush, hitting WRs in smaller windows, etc, as well as the speed that they'll have.

Get this under his belt ahead of the rest of our schedule with two weeks to prepare for USF and I think we win.

Now, I don't want him rushed, just stating my hope for him. If he has to sit, so be it.
