It is time to do away with Conference-based Refs

ESPECIALLY as we move into the Legal Sports Betting world, you simply can't have a scenario where one coach, from the visiting team who brought the refs, SCREAMING expletives for 5 mins and telling the Head Referee to "Make it right...MAKE IT RIGHT" on (ACC) National Television, and then have some dumblef@ck ref on the other sideline throw a 15 yarder on the other coach for who cares what.

There is NO justification for the discrepancy at all, and it majorly factored into a game with a 2 point spread going the Big Ten way.

It doesn't work. We all know the Big 10 is a fraud and would do anything, but that just can't happen in the new world.

NCAA (perhaps as their last gasp) needs to organize the Refs under a national governing body.

We all know that B1G refs call blocks/charges differently than ACC refs.

While the game was in doubt there were also several times that a major penalty against RU early in the play was followed by a flag against SU at the very end. Dino was protesting one of those when he got penalized. Offsetting calls happen, but I thought more than usual yesterday and involving ticky tack stuff on SU. Never went the other way that I can recall.
When a betting scandal happens, and it will, it will likely involve two mediocre teams bumbling their way around.

I thought refs were poor yesterday. But that definitely sent me over the edge. Schiano went ballistic and stopped the game for 2 minutes to scream at the ref and nothing. Following play, a very weak personal foul call on the tackle. And THEN the call on Dino!!!!! We never saw anything on replay. But to allow that from schiano for 2 minutes and then immediately throw a flag on Dino was outragous!!!! That was the turning point in the game if you ask me. Rutgers couldn’t do anything offensively and it gifted them a first down on 3rd and 13 and moved them to the 10 yard line.

even the penalty on the punt block was a strange call.. the block happened. then quite a bit later the tackle and throw OB happened then the flag came in then the flag for the illegal block.

I guess the one ref only knows how to throw flags for illegal formation calls he had like 4 of those..
