We need Clemson to keep doing great it elevates everyone else. The Big East invited Miami and they elevated Virginia Tech, Syracuse, West Virginia. Boston College. And Pittsburgh to get better.

I've never found this to be true. Did it help SU when FSU was top dog in the ACC? SU is either good or they aren't. SU was already at a high point when Miami entered the Big East. Other than VaTech, everyone else on your list fluctuated during Miami's tenure, just like they always did.
