...for getting this award from the Associated Press (trust me, it's an important award).

Stephen has always been so great in participating in chat rooms on this forum. Honest, thoughtful and always available.

More of you should participate when we do a chat with him during football season.

totally agree with that.

I did not hit them all this year, but participated in more than my share (at 1st a little out of curiosity and a lot out of fear that I would have to play bad cop to all the maroons who post here asking ridiculous ?s) and they were well done.

and to CTO's point...I thought the thoughtful honesty of maybe not knowing something and admitting it, as opposed to making up a BS answer refreshing. especially when you consider he didn't have to not only be doing a chat, but he then took it serious enough to want to come back and know that answer when it was asked again.

good for him.

I was once told that you should celebrate the successes of those around you. Whether you're on the same page with them or not, life's too short not to.

Congrats Stephen, you earned it.

I'll tip my beer to you this evening at Happy Hour.

Congratulations- how do they come up with the winners?
I don't know this definitively, but I know the Syracuse Press Club is called upon to adjudicate awards for other markets. So I'm assuming it's voted on by other writers.

None of the judges could ever figure out what he was talking about in his columns either.

Hey guys, I just wanted to hop in and say thank you to cto and everyone else. It's always a pleasure coming on to chat and a nice reprieve from navigating our comments section :blah::blah::blah:

I feel extremely lucky to be put next to folks like Tyler Dunne and Steve Bulpett, and hope to take another step forward this season. To clarify, beat writer applicants sent in five stories to (hopefully) show well-rounded coverage. I know the Shyheim Cullen feature (http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootb...pted_family_syracuse_football_linebacker.html) was one story my editor sent in and Shafer's final letter to the team (http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootb...tt_shafer_letter_coach_syracuse_football.html) was another.

To all: Feel free to reach out to me anytime via email (sbailey@syracuse.com), on Twitter (@Stephen_Bailey1) or here. I'll do my best to answer any questions you have and always appreciate constructive criticism. At 24 years old, I figure I still need plenty more of that to make it in this industry.

Glad to see you finally remembered you password. ;)

Congrats Stephen. Hopefully you'll get a chance at covering a winning team in the not too distant future!
