always the same thing: running around trying to get open. He never knows where he will be shooting from. Why can't he be more assertive? Why can't he use a one dribble move or a jab step to create space so that he will be shooting from a given spot. If he had that extra second or two to get perspective he would be more accurate. Even if he penetrated, if only to pass it back out, it would help to get defenders out of his face. The only time he penetrates is when he can go all the way. He never probes. The easy analysis is that his game is based on his physical limitations, but that is not the case at all. He can handle, he can dunk, he has talent but plays like a one trick pony. Why? Please excuse the Cooney misspelling. No excuse.

We don't run plays to free him up for anything other than jumpers. Not to beat a dead horse but we have the easiest offense in the world to defend because we literally seem to have three or four plays:
- free conney up with a series of screens
- CJ on the right block going left
- iso for Grant at the top of the key or baseline
- dump down to rak on block for a hook (very rarely used)

Everything else seems to be based on entirely on 1:1 play. We never see a pick and roll or back cut or dribble drive or cutters at the baseline, spacing, overloads to one side, etc...

All of this is correct, but Cooney loves to fade on his shots. Even that second half attempt where Rak kicks it out, Cooney faded hard left, shooters usually try to go straight up. You saw it with Baker on WSU earlier, that last three he faded and wasn't close to hitting it. We do him NO favors with our offense, and he does himself none either.

Alaska makes some good points, you see lots of guys with a limited skillset exploit the overplay - Cooney really never does. Is he even capable? Maybe he can't, but it seems like he just sets, does one jab-step (if any) then passes it back out. There just doesn't seem to be much going on there.
