Cool Stuff: Louisville v. Syracuse 2008

I do miss sitting in the 300 seats and being able to spit sunflower seeds for distance.....without having to worry about hitting anyone.

I will say this about the GRob era: attendance was so bad that beer and trough lines were usually pretty short.

Yeah, as I get older, I've come to appreciate that there's room to stretch out, there's never a bathroom line, and I can go get 2 beers and be back in my seat over the span of a TV break.

Ok, it still kinda sucks.

Don't you have to hustle a bit more from the Food Stamps? No bathrooms in the end zones right? Or do you just go "Joc44 Fulton" on us and pee against the leg on the random guy standing in the beer line?

Front row, on the aisle. Best Food Stamp seat in the house.

But yeah, a little hustle. For as much as we drink, hustling at that time isn't a problem, as long as we don't tumble down the stairs.

Did your tickets go up to $125? I think they made a super-premium Food Stamp section this year. I have two Food Stamps in similar seats like yours that I've held for 5 years and they went up to $125. I sold them to Finwad32 the last two seasons...great seats on the aisle over the section entrance in a small row of 5 or 6 seats.

Yeah, ours did go up to $125. Considering where we sit, we're probably still only paying about half the 1A Power Conference market rate. Maybe less than that.

Sorry, but I can't listen to the call of this game, or any other game, from the GROB era. Even with this being one of the 10 wins we had. I break out into a cold sweat and start thinking about Akron, Miami OH, the ESPN "what happened to Syracuse Football?" feature, and every other painful moment of this 4 year excursion into hell!

I remember a friend calling me and telling me we were winning. I thought it was a joke, I stopped watching after the first game of the season. Went to a bar, watched us win and wondered why that couldn't happen every weekend ...

This is neat. Radio calls of the Louisville v. Syracuse game from 2008. These are some of the few highlights of Greg Robinson's last season at Syracuse.

Syracuse Kickoff Return TD Max Suter first career TD

This game was without a doubt the most unpredictable outcome of any SU game in my lifetime. We were completely destroyed by Washington, Iowa and Illinois to start the year. Literally all signs pointed to a 49-10 loss.

And then we went and lost to Miami (OH) the next week. And hope died.

hope died the minute Dr. Gross hired GROB :0

It was obviously a terrible hire - but I think Dr. Gross has fully established himself as a great AD by how well this transition to the ACC was navigated.

I completely agree. I didn't mean for my post to sound like I was hammering the good Doctor. Just hammering GROB! :0

That game in Louisville was a fun day. I am on record stating that Louisville was 'overrated' (16second mark)! :) The following week at Miami, OH, not so much. :bang:

Was this 2007 team the worst team in modern SU football history? I know 2005 went 1-10, but I feel like it had a legitimately good defense and probably would have won 4-5 games if it wasn't experimenting with that stupid West Coast offense.
