Sitting in a tree , k i s s ..., ah just kidding. Cooney was ripped to threads here and thrown in the dumpster and left to die. Crazy things like he should transfer to a DIII school was spewed from the mouths of too many. Now look at him , hes not only a threat to shoot from long range but has developed into a player who can drive to the hoop or shoot the midrange J.

BJ is still young, and developing just like the younger Cooney at one time. His confidence and playing time just arent there to determine the kid a flop. The skills are there , now lets give him a chance to get comfortable, confident to show us what he can do.

Cooney is a pretty beefed up guard, BJ is very young and undersized forward. Cooney took a shirt, and was asked to shoot a lot of 3s on a lot of very tough sets (those curls running away from the hoop - catch and shoot are brutal). Cooney started as a soph.

I can't tell if you are talking about the difference between what was said last month with Cooney or 2 years ago.

2 years ago and i wont mention the one poster that lead the cause to Cooney's hater nation.

A similar analogy... :)

Gerry Coney for President, kid is having a great year. Getting to the point where he hasn't met a shot he didn't like...and buries it!

Cooney's problems started when Dion Waiters said "He never misses".

I think you are missing the point. Cooney stunk his frosh season. He was primarily a 3pt specialist who shot a pathetic percentage. And the idea those were hard shots is revisionist thinking. There is no official stat, but he had to have a run at the air ball record. Cooney has improved a lot.

The point is those ragging on BJ should show some patience. I think most on this board wished he had taken a shirt (because we want him as the best bball player we can get, which might be at odds with his life plans). But there is a lot of time left for BJ and he can be a very productive player for the 'Cuse before all is said and done.

and buries it? Are you serious?

In the past 5 games he's 16 for 39 on 3's or 41% which is respectable.

But he's 6/22 on drives to the basket for lay ups or 27% which is quite bad.

Overall he's 22 for 61 or 36% and he's the shooting guard.

I just don't see the comparison between the two. I hope BJ gets better, kid really needs to bulk up.

In an age where kids are constantly held back it's odd that he's the same age as some of our kids coming in that are in HS.

Its quite simple actually, the comparison is/was all the posters saying Cooney didnt belong on the court 2 years ago and he should transfer, just like the people doing now to BJ.
