I just assume cooney won't miss when he shoots. Unfortunately, sometimes he does. When that happens an angel loses their wings.

It is more than that. He has settled in as a starter and is taking better shots. Getting square to the basket. No more moving laterally, high degree of difficulty shots. His shots fall (higher percentage) because he is smarter about his selection.

But keep in mind, he still needs to show he can do something when the defenders are playing M2M. Minny's press & zone opened up spots for Cooney.

Maybe (I doubt it), but not for Cooney in particular. Cooney will be better when he can get open shots in a transition situation (as Minny's press allowed) or against a zone when Ennis or one of our other guys can find Cooney in a spot-up situation.

If I was defending SU, I would go St Francis-style and deny CJ his move to the left and deny Cooney his spot-up 3s. Make Ennis work but don't let him drive; make someone other than CJ and Cooney take shots.

I get jazzed when he releases and his form is right. Except the one time when, too early, I fist pumped and shouted "yesss" only to see him miss.

I don't think confidence was the issue, it was just getting reps. He played very well in every other aspect of the game last year, which tells me there was no collapse in confidence.

Reps were def an issue but when he played he looked lost and had no confidence.

Applesauce flow can get low when you spend 5 months yelling about bball but What apple cider gets you drunk even if its got a bit of a hard edge.

I was never down on the kid, especially after being sick with mono and losing all that weight. I had it and it takes a while to come back from.

That last inbounds to grant and throw back fro the3 was seriously sweet. It looked like Cooney never lowered his arm he caught the high pass and launched the ball with a high arc swishing it!

But those 3 misses sucked! What I want my shooter to be like 90% at least.
