Cooney smh

Good thing he gets over 37 minutes a game.

The only guy who gets any sort of playing time with a worse shooting % is Howard. We got sold a bill of goods on this alleged shooter.

I dont even watch TCs shot anymore. I just watch his head, if it drifts all over the place, esp away from the basket, i know in all likelihood the shots not going in. When he elevates less and doesnt drift his % is good. He was drifting all over the place today

Thats funny. I was thinking the only shots he makes are the hard ones. Trevor cooneys worst shot is a wide open 3

I just can't believe he hasn't learned, after 5 years, to finish competently around the rim. Or to perform a simple pull up to either shoot or pass.

I cant exactly disagree w you. But what i see is sometimes he drifts even on open ones. hey sometimes on highly contested ones he doesnt drift. But as we all know very few players make a high percentage without good form and balance. Just watch G, TL , and Mals form vs Cooneys. I hope you notice a difference as i do or i guess i am just hallucinating

It's a broken record -- he is what he is. I didn't understand why he was given all these minutes at 2G for the past 3 years, but it's not changing now so I don't even bother with it. It is what it is.

This is the root of it. He simply has played way too many minutes the past three seasons when he is better cast as a third or fourth option at best and/or bench guy. We just had no other options and you know the guard situation is in dire straits when your SG/SF transfer comes in from Duke and is being groomed early on in the process to play PG. This is on the staff for mucking this all up with the guard recruiting the past three years or so. Francis's podcasts have illustrated this also.

Player GS FGM-FGA 3FGM-3FGA FTM-FTA OFF-DEF TOT PF TP A TO BLK STL MIN
23 Malachi Richardson * 1-10 0-6 4-6 0-1 1 2 6 5 2 0 1 36
10 Trevor Cooney * 1-9 1-7 0-0 0-0 0 2 3 1 1 0 1 34

Don't see a big enough difference to say that Richardson was "better". The # of assists is attributed the him handling the ball many more times than Cooney (same for turn overs).

cooney in february :

2014 fg% (32/77) 42 % , 3pt% (22/54*) 41%
2015 fg% (32/107) 30% , 3pt% (13/70) 19%
2016** fg% (15/53) 28% , 3 pt% (12/42) 29%

* (includes his 9/12 game against the irish.)
** (2 games remaining)

He handles the ball more because he's better at it.

I thought Cooney had been playing fine this year and I'm one of his biggest "haters". He wasn't taking a ton of shots of games, was the 3rd or 4th option on offense and even hit some huge 3s in close games with 2-3 minutes left.
