Cooney

How about franks two assists tonight too?

Dude has great vision. Alley oop to lydon and perfect pass to G for corner three.

Props

Last 3 games, 50%, 9-18 from 3.

12, 6, 4 today and the only player without a turnover.

Happy for him.

Nice broadcast segment about his parents attending games.

This is a Cooney thread. You should post that in the frank thread.

I don't like calling people out on the board, that's not my style. However, once in a while a post comes about where I feel compelled to do so. Your post, my man, is it. Tell me, please, those THREE terrible attempts that you speak? Did he finish on every drive? Of course not. Who did? He played a very good game and is now playing within his ability, which means not forcing things. This is what informed Orange fans have been asking for the past 2-3 years. Now you pick the time to criticize him?

What the

Give the guy credit finally for doing a DAMN GOOD JOB.
Thanks for this post. I had the same feelings but decided to let it pass since many on this board get their jollies dumping on Cooney. Both he and Gbinije are playing each game now as their "next" to last game. They deserve this finish.

Glad for him in this tourney. I do wish he would refrain from "dribble drives" as he has a hard time "scoring the basketball" from there.
"scoring the basketball" Perhaps my least favorite terminology in the game.

Was thinking of starting a new thread, but decided to tack onto this one instead.
I think if you read this article on syracuse.com, you'll understand why Trevor is on the floor as much as he is:

http://ow.ly/ZJys6

He provides the experience and leadership on the floor that helps the young players like Lydon recover from missing 3 straight FT's to go on and have a great game.
I've seen this a number of times with Trevor - gathering the players together at times and settling them down when things get heated, etc.
He's a team leader and sometimes that can be even more important than scoring as it makes the whole team better.

This belongs in the "scoring the basketball" thread. ;)

There really is one!

Bottom line is we need him to take and make shots if we want to continue to advance. No one can question his want-to and i'm very happy to see him playing extremely well in the NCCAT on his last go around.
When he's making the 3 pointer like tonight, teams can not overload the D on G and the good things happen.

I think the fewer minutes have helped.

I thought so too. At one point in the 2nd half, he came out about a minute ahead of one of the TV time-outs, and ended up getting about a 3-4 minute break with that. Coaching.
