Doug didnt give him a chance. Shafer is following the same path. In watching Hunt on the last drive and 98 for Michigan it is hard not to imagine Ash at QB for Syracuse. I have to believe he can throw it as well as Allen or Hunt and there is no doubt that he can make plays with his feet. Everyone talks about getting him the ball in space well why not let him touch the ball every snap. Run the zone read with this kid and let his God given talent take over games. My guess is that he beats 4-5 teams on his own. He is according to the coaches the most competative player on the team and he is a leader. I really think we are missing out on a special player

I am curious about that too. I can only assume he isn't doing something in practices that would make the coaching staff reevaluate him.

We're not missing out on a special player, he played a bunch the last two games. Had some great plays, made some great moves, dropped some balls. He's playing and was really the focal points at times against NW. So what exactly are we missing out on?

The statement that you believe he has to be able to throw it at least as well as Allen or Hunt is just ridiculous. If he could, he would be playing QB. Absolutely silly statement that doesn't even make a lot of sense if you think about it.

Really do you think he would have 6 interceptions at this point and a dozen blocked passes. Do you think that just maybe our running game might be a tad better? Do you think that he might have broke a play or two on his own? You dont make any sense this kid was all world in HS and throws a hell of a lot better ball than Tim Tebow ever hopes to. I stand by my comment i think this kid should be under center. Heck Rutgers played a true WR at QB and he trashed us

Broyld has had difficulty mastering the offense as a back and slot receiver. How'd you think it would work at QB?

That is a different reason and i have no idea about his mental ability. I do know that he won a state title and put up all world numbers. According to Shafer they cut the playbook back in the second half and last year they had about 7 basic sets. Something tells me in listening to him during interviews that he has the ability to play QB maybe not every down but for a series or two he could really create some issues for opposing D's

You do usually want your qb as the most competitive player on your team. i didn't know that about him. I wonder how much of a shot he really got at qb? Either way it looks like that ship has sailed, but fwiw Hunt looks to have that same kind of will to win, Allen not so much.

Listen i realize that there has to be a reason he didnt get a shot but i do wonder how he would do. Everytime he gets the ball he is electric. Strong and quick like a large Cat. I dont think we have seen an athlete like him on the hill in a very long time. Williams was a freak but Ash has this combination of size and quicks that you just dont see. I mean cant he throw the same type of ball as Hunt? I dont know but i just get a feeling that in the zone read he would be a nightmare to defend against

tipped passes are as much on the oline and play calls as they are on the QB.. saw tom brady get 3 tipped today and several went thru and around hands. if you live on short slants you will be throwing into people

Nothing but it has everything with being a good QB in McDonalds O

So the QB in McDonalds system needs to be a good runner but not necessarily a good passer, which is why the decision was made to start Allen?

Your reaching.

How did Broyld do at QB at Milford Academy? Oh wait...

Ok fine your right Ash could never make it at QB. The decision to start Allen seems to be misplaced at best

How did Tibow do in the Pros?

How does that relate? If Broyld didn't tear it up at QB at prep school, how is he going to do so at SU?

He wasnt given the chance and i believe the O is completely different than the zone read. Listen i have no idea why the kid has not been given the chance. Why did our staff pass on Mike Hart, How come Jim Brown wasnt a RB from day one? Why did Doug hire his first OC? Why didnt Sales play more? These are questions for this board to engage everyone in discussion. Half the time i post something i do so to create thought and debate. As to Ash there has to be a reason he has not been provided with a chance not sure what it is people say he doesnt have the mental abililty who knows. If Hack were coaching the O do you think Charlie might have started? Well he is now third string why? My point is that in a zone read O i believe Ash could do some damage. He sure as hell couldnt be much worse than what we have seen so far.

IMO Ashton has shown a real lack of leadership by saying whatever he wants to the press about the team. Grading the performance of the offense as a D or D+, saying he wants Terrell in there at QB, he needs to toe the line and let his coaches do that kind of talking. That kind of action tells me Ashton thinks he's bigger than this team and his coaches, that's a big problem and the last thing you need is that kind of headache in a position to override a coach's decision.

He's just fine where he is and he might be even better on the bench if he keeps running his mouth. That's one thing Marrone did well, he didn't allow singular voices disrupt team unity.

When did he say that he wanted terrell?

I must have missed it
