Even without White. It may take a few months but the defense will get really good. And I think the reason will be the team will discover how much fun it is to make transition baskets off steals. Once the team gets a taste of that experience they will be hungry for it.

With White, we might have the firepower to have the offense match how good the defense projects.

3 of our 4 guards have never played the zone, Lydon mainly played the 5, Roberson has always been meh, TT and Moyer have never played it, Colemans never been good out there. On the plus side, by default 72 should be good out there.

Recently, if we have good athletes the zone comes together by the end of the season. That is all I would be looking for next year given the number of new guys. We may see some really atrocious defense at the start of the year...but hang in there.

Well, they're not quite that big at forward, but I agree.

They'll be fine by January. I agree that it will take some time, especially teaching the guards to cut off the drive, cover the foul line, keep an eye out for the weak-side three, etc.

I couldn't agree more. Just look what JB did with last years batch. He has many more key ingredients for the JB Natty stew this coming year. Early on expect some bumps.. but by the time it really counts this team is going to be wicked nasty!

Last years bunch had bad defense from the 5 and average defense at the wings. The two guys that did well played for 4 and 5 years respectively in the system.

Being tall up front with a stacked back line is one thing, being tall upfront with the ability to pressure for that backline is another. Wonder if Chukwu will be able to extend like Keita.
