Couldn’t overcome a C- game

Starting to feel like we’re wasting the opportunity this year presented. Best QB this program has seen and likely will see for a long time and legit players at skill positions.

If not for bad defense and some coaching miscues this could’ve been a special season. Now unless we win @Cal we might be looking at only a one win improvement over last year.

Best QB in recent memory and we are going to go 7-5, maybe 8-4. We’ve won 6 games with no QB, very average QBs and good QBs. Seems like 6-8 wins is our ceiling no matter what.

First time head coach and first time DC is a major risk. I think Fran is a very good hire but he and EROB are rookies, and rookies get schooled by veterans sometimes. Like today

Unfortunately, the elusive ceiling game may not be hit. That's the most frustrating part. 6-3 with losses to 2 teams that have a combined 3 ACC wins. This is a team who's best players are experienced upperclassmen. I've been hoping they would build as the season progresses and become more consistent. Also, only 2 games left to have a ceiling game (Not counting UConn). My grades:

Ohio: C
GT: B
Stanford: D+
Holy Cross: C
UNLV: B (Thanks to the offense)
NC ST: C+
Pitt:
VT: B
BC: C

Even after a dismal start offensively, lack of running game, giving up a safety and TD on the subsequent kick and really bad run defense all day, if we had somehow sniffed out the 4th and 1 TD pass in the 4th and stopped it we may have come away with a win with the drive and FG at the end of the game and won 31-30. We have a razor thin margin for victory in most of our games and this was a prime example of that.

On the road. That was a bad team performance.

That game shouldn’t have been close let alone a loss.
They overcome the bad defense and outscore them if they just had some common sense about left tackle

I get this but there's at least a dozen fanbases that feel like this every season too. Take Va Tech for example. They were a preseason ACC dark horse title winner. They're what 5-4 now?

Yeah, that made no sense. JCruz has looked okay in his snaps.

My guess for this season was 7 & 5 and I will stick to it.

Got to build next years team with an O and D line ...Tom Brady couldn't throw under that kind of pressure ...great to have good skill guys but if you can't block or tackle all for naught!

Not entirely. The O had 8 empty possessions out of 13 total. They were very inefficient. The D gets the lions share of the blame, but the O bears some responsibility too.
They scored 31 points and coukd have been more

But it wasn’t more. That’s the point. We’ve known all season that this team was going to have to outscore opponents to win.

I give the D the vast majority of the blame. But we had EIGHT empty possessions. Scoring due to volume doesn’t mean they weren’t inefficient. We needed to turn a couple of those into points.

When you get a late 1st half interception, and no points you set yourself up to lose.

I won't do this work but someone should go through drive results by who was LT

If we don’t beat Cal or Miami, that means another season with a losing ACC record, and that is depressing
Since joining the conference we by far have the worst record of any school. We’ve had 1 season with a winning record. You have to make these seasons count.

Yep 2018 and I believe only two seasons where we were at .500(2013 and 2022). I mean, I know we got the short straw being placed in the Atlantic for all of those years, but c’mon.
