wishful thinking and I understand every recruit that comes from south understands this isnt paradise, but with manley in town and the geo. boys, what a crappy time for this stuff to hit.

Don't gripe. The fact that we avoided snow this long is nothing short of a miracle...

Most southern kids like the novelty of snow. Just don't tell them that it's usually like that for 6 months.

I love posts like this, as if we could try and hide the fact that it snows in Syracuse in JANUARY. What. Get over it, such BS. Snows a lot in Boise, Pullman, etc etc.

You sound like this...

Aug. 12 - Moved into our new home in Upstate NY. It is so
beautiful here. The hills and river valleys are so picturesque. I have a
beautiful old oak tree in my front yard. Can hardly wait to see the change
in the seasons. This is truly God's Country.
Oct. 14 - Upstate New York is such a gorgeous place to
live, one of the real special places on Earth. The leaves are turning a
multitude of different colors. I love all of the shades of reds, oranges and
yellows, they are so bright. I want to walk through all of the beautiful
hills and spot some white tail deer. They are so graceful, certainly they
must be the most peaceful creatures on Earth. This must be paradise.
Nov. 11 - Deer season opens this week. I can't imagine why
anyone would want to shoot these elegant animals. They are the very symbol
of peace and tranquility here in New York. I hope it snows soon.
I love it here!
Dec. 2 - It snowed last night. I woke to the usual wonderful
sight:
everything covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The oak tree is
magnificent. It looks like a postcard. We went out and swept the snow
from the steps and driveway. The air is so crisp, clean and refreshing. We
had a snowball fight. I won, and the snowplow came down the street. He must
have gotten too close to the driveway because we had to go out and shovel
the end of the driveway again. What a beautiful place. Nature in harmony. I
love it here!

Dec. 12 - More snow last night. I love it! The plow did his
cute little
trick again. What a rascal. A winter wonderland. I love
it here!

Dec. 19 - More snow - couldn't get out of the driveway to
get to work in time. I'm exhausted from all of the shoveling. And that
snowplow!

Dec. 21 - More of that white stuff coming down. I've got
blisters on my hands and a kink in my back. I think that the snowplow driver
waits around the corner until I'm done shoveling the driveway.
.

Dec. 25 - White Christmas? More freakin' snow. If I ever get
my hands on the son-of-a-gun who drives that snowplow, I swear I'll
castrate him. And why don't they use more salt on these roads to melt this
crap??

Dec. 28 - It hasn't stopped snowing since Thanksgiving.
I have been inside since then, except of course when that SOB "Snowplow
Harry" comes by. Can't go anywhere, cars are buried up to the windows.
Weather man says to expect another 10 inches. Do you have any idea how many
shovelfuls 10 inches is??

Jan. 1 - Happy New Year?
The way it's coming down it won't melt until the 4th of
July! The snowplow got stuck down the road and the shithead actually had the
balls to come and ask to borrow a shovel! I told him I'd broken 6 already
this season.

Jan. 4 - Finally got out of the house. We went to the store
to get some food and a goddamn deer ran out in front of my car and I hit the
bastard. It did $9,000 in damage to the car. Those beasts ought to be
killed. The hunters should have a longer season if you ask me.

Jan. 27 - Warmed up a little and rained today. The rain
turned the snow into ice and the weight of it broke the main limb of the oak
tree in the front yard and it went through the roof. I should have cut that
old piece of into fireplace wood when I had the chance.

May 23 - Took my car to the local garage. Would you believe
the whole underside of the car is rusted away from all of that damn salt
they dump on the road? Car looks like a bashed up, heap of rusted cow .

May 10 - Sold the car, the house, and moved to Florida.
I can't imagine why anyone in their freakin' mind would ever want to live in
the God forsaken State of New York...

Its been a dream winter so far. Noone on this board hates winter/snow more than I do am I am not even complaining right now.

yes boise, and pullman are beautiful places also...ok let me rephrase this for some of you old bitter hags aka IB... the winter has been very good to also so far, I wish we could have one more weekend of decent weather before the "storm" hit. :D

Yes, I am a old bitter hag because I don't hold my breath every winter recruiting weekend and I admit that it snows in Syracuse in JANUARY and expecting snow NOT to be in the ground this time of year is foolish... Kids will come and go but I hate when people complain about the weather. That to me sounds like an old bitter hag. It also snows quite a bit in Ann Arbor, Minnesota, etc etc. My god, the inferiority complex is ridiculous

I love posts like his too because it makes sense. Kids know it snows but some kids don't know how bad it can get and when they are on a VISIT it is better when it is milder, that is a fact. We had great great weather so far and now on the day some of them get into town, we have a white out. Not optimum weather. Hopefully they all get in.

Yes, we are the only 1A program where it snows!!! We are screwed. I like the snow because it can cover up some of the facilities. Build good facilities and quit worrying about the weather. Day like today, would be nice to show them thenew indoor practice facility, etc

Today is a pretty typical Januray today, moreso than earlier in the week and so be it

its a damn culutre shock for these kids..i'd rather have them come in on a 41 degree jan fluke day and have them think to themselves...man it isnt that bad then any icy and white mess. Or alteast until they sign their LOI then it can be the north pole for all I care.

Wisconsin seems to do a pretty good job of attracting talented players to their neck of the woods. Last time I checked, it gets pretty darn cold and snowy there too.

You don't get recruiting if you think a kid visiting today is thrilled about the weather. All the OP said was it would have been nice if the nice weather had held off a bit. Which is true.

Hide the facilities. :rolling:

Their program is a bit better, and has been, than ours.

Its not as big of a culture shock as you think for the Atl kids. Atlanta gets its fair share of cold, ice and snow. Of course Syracuse gets way more of it for much longer period of time...but I have been in Atlanta when they got a foot of snow in an afternoon/night. Schools were closed there last year for three or four days after an ice storm...

Now the Florida kids, thats a different story

Ditto Michigan and MSU, Minny, NW, Iowa and Nebraska

I'm thinking many people are both missing the point of the OP's post and aren't in Syracuse right now.

**ATTENTION** **ATTENTION** because we are not nebraksa, wisky and even iowa for that matter...we dont have the facilities or national acclaim for the current state of the program...I would take anything in our favor..hence it being a fluke decent weather day in Jan would only help not hurt.

Don't tell me you guys are on one of those 24 inches in 24 hours benders?

The weather is the weather. who gives a no use even worry about it. Focus on what you can control. Spend some money, hire recruiters, build facilities. Plenty of other programs out there with basically the same weather. Lots of Cali kids in Pullman Washington, Lincoln, Nebraska, etc

I understand the point, sure it would be great if it was 45 degrees etc etc but this is winter in CNY, you can't hide it. It's January 13th! Kids don't like it, oh well. At the end of the day, it's up to the staff, the current players, and the facilities not the weather. I don't like the excuse

nah, wont get 24 inches. but went from green at 6am to total white out since. schools closed, highways treacherous and many accidents, issues at the airport. went from a great winter so far to blizzard conditions in an hour.

only got about 5 inches at my house. roads are clearing up...not even a flesh would.

IB, trust me I agree on all points. We need to stop talking and doing more $ wise... Gross is defined by the success of the football program and Marrone the next 2 years... however getting a manley, and or thomason to sign when they come up and see this winter wonderland would be a huge credit to doug and the staff. 18 more days and then this final chapter will be written on this class. intrigued but a little nervous.

not sure how you got that from "wishful thinking and I understand every recruit that comes from south understands this isnt paradise, but with manley in town and the geo. boys, what a crappy time for this stuff to hit." i guess only you read into that we wouldn't get a recruit because of weather and used it as an excuse.
