couldnt snow hold off for 2 more weeks

IB weather has negatively affected the recruiting efforts. They have lost kids before who couldn't even make it into Syracuse their recruiting weekend due to snow. This weekend with snow, wind and the coldest temps of the season is not favorable.

not sure how you got that from "wishful thinking and I understand every recruit that comes from south understands this isnt paradise, but with manley in town and the geo. boys, what a crappy time for this stuff to hit." i guess only you read into that we wouldn't get a recruit because of weather and used it as an excuse.

Maybe it's me but I don't think the weather is that bad, I was in Syracuse at 7 am this morning drove back to Ithaca around 9:30. It's winter in CNY and like I said, it's TYPICAL. Somehow gray and 38 degrees with zero snow is much much better. I do get the point about the weather having an effect on travle plans, now that sucks for sure but nothing you can do there

only got about 5 inches at my house. roads are clearing up...not even a flesh would.

still a bitch in liverpool. complete white out with the winds.

Sounds like a lot of whining and excuse making to me. The weather is the weather, if they miss a weekend, get them another weekend, if they don't want to reschedule then they probably were not really interested

it had just started at 7am. at 6am it was all clear and green.

I think you need to give these kids a little more credit in their ability to decide what school they want to attend/play at. If they really like the school, future team coaches, etc. the weather will not be the deciding factor. I have one from TX who did his recruiting in the winter. Dealt with blizzard conditions, flight and travel delays the works. Didn't matter because he loved the school, coaches, etc. and he is now enjoying his second year of school in the northeast.

Everything is a factor-If many students will be stuck inside, it probably makes it harder for the recruits to have a fun weekend and come out excited. Doesn't mean it's impossible, but it doesn't help.

Some kids come here and love the snow. Plus we play in a Dome.

I don't think it hurts us that much.

looks like zian jones is headed this way if he doesnt miss his flight again

Zian Jones so I missed my flight from georgia to syracuse gotta take a later flight now im stuck n this big ass airport this mug got a train n the airport What..

Show them the benefits and fun of an lleastern snowballfight and making a snowman and give them a shovel to keep them loose:rolling:

I would like to think weather isn't a big deal either but honestly at this time of the year when most kids have already committed, some of these guys let weather or other factor like that be the dealmaker/breaker. With only a few scholarships left with most schools, rescheduling a visit two/three weeks down the road due to weather problems may make it to late to be feasible to visit.

They don't have to decide on LOI day.

I wonder if it's still possible to make official visits after LOI day.

The Syracuse winter doesn't have a major bearing on the party scene. Next weekend is the first of the semester with all the students back. If anyone is up, they're going to have a good time.

Just me, but I thought the campus looked great Saturday night and there wasn't a ton going on as the students weren't back but I am sure the kids and parents got a nice tour of all the campus facilities, etc. If a kid wants to party or that is what his priorities are then maybe he should not be attending

It doesn't matter if it is SU or an Ivy school, part of the recruiting process is planned partying/socializing for the recruit. Just because they are going to parties doesn't mean that they won't be good students.

I was told that the staff likes this weekend without students for a lot of reasons, many parents as well. So take that FWIW.
