Craig Forth article

My great nephew plays bb for that high school. At one of the games this past winter, Craig was gracious enough to pose for this photo of matching SU bookends.

It's unfortunate how many in our fanbase treated Craig Forth and Troy Nunes.
there maybe a reason for some of this. If it's just for perceived on the court insufficiencies than its wrong, but if its for off the court stuff I get it having seen and witnessed first hand less than stellar and some poor behavior from both, off the field (and not in the kids will be kids variety type).

i basically became a student in 1987, in the 28 years since ive been an 'Orangeman' ive come close to throwing hands 2x with a fellow Orangeman at a Syracuse sporting event. 1x with these morons disprespecting baysides wife at the Blarney and the other at the Garden when this jackarse rode 51 from the opening tip on...and he was actually having a decent game, but since it wasnt 20 & 10...it wasnt good enough. craig was abused hard often and i had had it, ridiculous.

fortunetly cooler heads prevailed both times (not mine, for i had already thought out the cause, effect and end result...and was ok with it).

props to bayside and max fisher for difusing the situations while still plying me with more beer.

Craig is finally returning to SU for events.. after a decade-long absence. He was the convocation speaker at the School of Ed commencement ceremony last May... and he was at SU for the Duke -Weekend events this season (where Cusetroop and I had a nice chat with him).

He and his brother (who posted here as Syrasax because he played the sax in the SSS) are both wonderful representatives of SU.

Well, I was among those that REALLY appreciated what he did on the court because I watched what he was doing and saying (especially on defense). He is the only starting Center at SU that ever won a nationnl championship.

There aren't many off the court things I can imagine warrant abuse from a fanbase, and I have certainly never heard of anything that would fit that category associated with those 2. Care to expand on that?

He's terrible at returning e-mails, though ;)

But seriously, I'm glad he's getting involved. It's weird - he almost got Bill Buckner level treatment from some fans, despite the fact that he actually HELPED US WIN A TITLE. I never got that. Was he an NBA player? No. But he did absolutely everything that was asked of him.

I'm going to guarantee that a lot of the students who booed him had no problem taking advantage of his generosity when he laid his SUpercard down at Kimmel and let everyone have a meal on him.

Nonsense.

Somebody will be saying that about Trevor Cooney in a few years as well.

And Scoop and Triche

I was frustrated by both during there time here, I was very hard on Triche (wasn't posting on here when he played here) while he played here but always praised him on the defensive end. That said, Triche was a very solid player for us and I wish we had more of players like him.

it seems like we must have caught him (Forth) on a bad night, and it sounds like he's doing some great things that are more consistent with whom I always thought he was so nah no need to promelgate things here (PM if you really want to hear it).

thanks for the offer, but it does sound more like it was out of the ordinary for him, which could make it even more pronounced at the time, but also not something worth questioning the mans character over. Like when a coach refuses an autograph curtly, or a diva clears an entire maternity ward for just the birth of their child, and theirs alone. You walk away thinking what an A hole, but it's also not worth going on a crusade over. It's alot of responsibility having that public scrutiny on you as a college kid, so there will be times they show they're just like you and me.

oh believe me it caused all of us who were there to question his character, but as you noted it ultimately (and hopefully) WAS out of character along the lines of a bad night for him as already mentioned.

What did he do buddy?

I'm getting to regret posting the article. The article is nothing but positives as to where life has taken him and his passion for guiding our youth. For this thread to deteriorate to the point of questioning his character is low. This board really sucks sometimes.

Well i understand what you are saying but i guess some people had less than stellar personal experiences with him. Are they supposed to not comment on your post because it doesnt fit the positiveness of your article?
