Craziest SU game you ever saw in person?

On the plus side, the Brominski throw back against VT in 98 (we rushed the field; my roommate got on SportsCenter hugging DNabb) and, just to stand out a bit, I recall a very good game vs Tulane and Shaun King where it was real tight up til the end and (w/o looking) Tebucky Jones picked him off at or near the end zone as they were driving late in the 4th quarter down less than a TD. SU subsequently punched in another score to seal it.

On the negative, Tee Martin's Tennessee and the fictitious pass interference call in '98 and losing to NC State in an OT heartbreaker early in the season (I believe '97) which essentially knocked SU out of the national championship conversation (yes, there were rumblings in those years for you newer guys and gals) after beating up Wisconsin pretty good in the kickoff classic at Giants Stadium. This is all from memory so apologies if i'm off on anything...

the minnesota fumble game might've gotten a pretty good explosion of holy s and wtfs on twitter

(not that many people from here attended that)

Yep to deep handoffs fumbled and return for TD's against, three McNabb Int's, one in the endzone, I think a dropped TD, and a 50 yd FG at the gun by Minny in a two point loss.

2003 Rutgers 'Wind' game. Crazy in the worst way possible.

Mitigating factors - I met cto, Bill Orange, and sutomcat for the first time at that game.

I was at that game also. It's when I discovered that other stadiums don't serve beer like we do. Wasn't there a fight with a couple SU players going into the stands as well? Overall a bad day.

Two things stick out to me about the 2002 VaTech game. One was how crazy loud it was. Second, was that my brother in law passed out and missed everything after halftime. I was shocked at how that noise and energy couldn't stir him.

oommph, that was a tough one.

tough to even think about again.

In no order

Florida State 04 (Perry Patterson hail mary at the end)
Iowa 06 (Tim Lane drop and the Iowa 8 play goal line stand from the half inch line in double OT)
Minnesota 09
Rutgers 09 (9 sacks sitting next to Rutgers fans)
Wake Forest 11
Toledo 11 (mixed extra point)
Northwestern 12 (I stayed for the comeback)
BC 13
Villanova 14 (obvious reasons)

I haven't seen a ton of winning football (I got my season tickets Coach P's last year).

I can say I saw the Georgetown John Thompson ejection game which next to watching the 2003 National Championship

I was there - I still have PTSD from that game. On our first offensive possession we had an effortless scoring drive and I thought we would win like 45-10.

The 92 game was crazy it was the loudest stadium I have ever been in and then in one second it became like a funeral home. I still remember being pissed at P because he blew a timeout earlier in the half.

'92 Miami
'98 Tennessee
'92 Texas - trickery get Graves catching TD in corner of endzone. Student section breaks the Dome (and falls on Graves in the process)
Kickoff Classic vs Wisconsin

loved both the '93 Fiesta and the '96 Gator but saw neither in person.

Strangely a few were losses. Miami and Tennessee. Florida/vtech were the best wins

You've all done a great job listing the best ones.

One of my absolute favorite experiences as an SU football fan was during the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl win vs WFVU in the rain/sleet/snow at Yankee Stadium. I just became a father for the first time about 10 weeks prior and convinced my wife into going to the game. Along with my brother, we watched that game while holding a beer that was actually warming my hands it was so cold outside.

To see us absolutely destroy Geno, Dana & Co was simply amazing. Our team was relentless on defense, stellar on offense and had a certain swag about them that made you think Syracuse football was back.

To this day, I loathe WFVU and loved seeing all of the bath salt-laden fans there crying like little pansy asses. They assumed they were going to steamroll us, but Syracuse had different plans that day!

And that's a fumble in the end zone there GENO...

By the way, that 2002 VT game is on YouTube:

And yes, I decided to write about this: http://.com/the-craziest-syracuse-game-no-one-remembers/

(When I say "no one remembers" I mean no one outside of the SU fanbase)

While not "crazy" from the standpoint of a last second finish or anything, the '87 Penn State game was it for me. Totally bananas, crowd going nuts, the Donnie Mac to Moore 80-yard freeze option bomb to open the game(loudest roar I've ever heard in any stadium anywhere).

Thorough start to finish ass kicking of the inbred village of the damned.
^^THIS^^ X2

I had so much fun at that game, incredible

That VT game in 02 was definitely crazy. It was also like 65 degrees that weekend which is crazy for Syracuse in November.

I would also add Florida in '91 and at ND in '08.

WVU '87. Ran on the field to find Michael Owens and high fived. He was with his brother Billy who was a high school senior at the time.

I learned that at BC when I got into the stadium early so we could go order beers and go to our seats.

Luckily, I had a flask of rum too.

I'm only 23 so I haven't had the opportunity to see Syracuse football at its finest but the best football games I've been to were the last time we played West Virginia at home and beat the doors off of them and Wake Forest at home when we went to overtime against them.

Likely 25 years ago , #1 ranked Miami rolls into the dome and we almost beat them. We were on their 5 yd. line when the clock expired. Graves threw up on the field. We had 2 great linebackers that year. Dan Conley and------------? You could hear a pin drop at the end of the game. No one left their seats for 15-20 minutes. That game really, really sticks in my craw.

The Brominski game. Hands down.

I was the first fan to rush the field (probably not very smart, in hindsight). I ran a hundred yards across the turf to celebrate with the mob. Pretty sure the first 40 yards I ran about a 4.3 I was so excited.
