This is sort of nuts. I thought the D started the game looking very good. SMU punted twice then were stopped and had to kick a FG on a 4 yard drive. 1Q 3 points

It's not realistic to think they could sustain that in 86 degree heat while the offense faltered

Meanwhile Syracuse had 3 third Q punts. The D did enough of a job in the 3rd to allow Syracuse to get back in the game.

Imagine being our defense in the second half. You're exhausted, you get off the field with a great interception to set the offense up perfectly with fantastic field position. You think to yourself "ok we'll have a few minutes to get some water and catch our breath." And you're back on the field after one play after a Rickie pick.
