I don't understand Creighton to the Catholic 7/Big East. Why go Omaha when you could get St. Louis, or VCU or even a Duquesne?

I am disappointed to see Creighton move because of how it affects the Missouri Valley. I live in Kansas City and get to watch quite a bit of MVC basketball. It's a really fun conference. Sad to see it lose a key member.

Creighton also has a lot of fan support. They're top 10 in attendance nationally.

Western Nebraska. All I'm saying is the NNNBE didn't need to go all over to find someone. Their situation is far from the desperate times being seen by the America12, or whatever they are calling themselves. The C7 could have kept things a little closer, and still been just as strong. And maybe stronger. Add Duquesne, and you have a closer rival. Add creighton, and you have Marquette and Butler...and then Nebraska.

Eastern Nebraska on the Iowa border. They have a midwest mini-conference of Marquette, Creighton, DePaul, Xavier, and Butler. The "classic" Big East on the East coast with Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, G'town, and Nova. I'd bet they add 1 more midwest type school and another East coast school. Then you can set up 2 divisions of 6 where you play your own side twice with one crossover game against the other side to get a 16 game league schedule.

Ah, we'll, I guess that demonstrates my (and virtually everyone else's) knowledge of Nebraska.

I have an unfair advantage, I've been there. It was during football season. Everyone was wearing Husker gear and every other house had a Nebraska flag.

Ashamed to say I've been there too. Don't remember a damn thing about it except it was really flat, and I swam in a pool at the motel.

A good buddy of mine lives out there. He got tickets to the KC/Oakland game. KC is about 2 hrs. from Omaha. My Raiders got a rare win.

And those that didn't probably got shunned by the neighborhood.

Nebraska sucks but Omaha is a GREAT and Creighton's campus is really nice.

My wife went there and I was unimpressed.

There's a nice little rivalry going on in the state. Most Creighton fans are bandwagon husker football fans which irritates the hardcore base.

Will be interesting to see if UNL's $200 million investment in hoops pays off.

LOL. I should have anticipated that.
Every year we go back and drive up north to my mother in law's home in Page Nebraska. It is the most boring 3 hour drive one could imagine.

Its a great conference. Will be like the Colonial losing VCU.

So 1 year after VCU leaves and only a few years after VCU and Mason s final 4 appearances the CAA's NCAA tournament team not only gets fuccked with a 16 seed but has to play the play in game...

Same thing will happen to the MVC and its sad. 1 bid league. 14/15 seed prob. Will hurt all the other programs even Wichita.

Creighton is a huge get. Tons of fans (most of them are morons though worse than Nebby football.) Shame it will kill the MVC b/c that is a great conference.

Oh, and I also like that georgetown will be looking up at Creighton next year b/c if they weren't in the league the hoyas would be top dogs on the block. But Creighton will be that now.

And... all Cuse fans should thank McDermot for being a scumbag b/c Wesley Johnson wouldn't have come to Cuse if G Mac didn't bully him (called him out for being soft and not playing through a fracture in his foot and stuff.)

Guy couldn't hack it in the Big 12 and was horrible at ISU but has been dynamite in the MVC at UNI and Creighton so it will be interesting to see how he does with no Dougie against the C7 teams. Can't root against him hope he does better than jt3 though.

Holy a Creighton thread on here.

So I'll chime in here and say I am a CU season ticket holder ready for the BE. I'm also a Syracuse fan, bigger football, but still pretty big on the basketball side. My family is from Rome/Utica area but I had the pleasure of being the first born in Omaha after the move, so I grew up with stories of Davis, Brown, Little from my grandpa and the 84 win against Nebraska and the 87 season from my dad, and have been to many football games including the Fiesta bowl in 97.

With that being said CU is a much better fit for the BE than SLU, SLU plays in a on campus small arena with little fan support, CU plays in a 18,000 seat arena and sells out it regularly also with Nebraska being terrible at basketball they are the only show in the state and area.

Omaha is a good town but yea when you get west of it the rest of the state sucks and I hate Nebraska football and their fans.

I just can't wait to still hate Georgetown for many years to come.

Speaking of Creighton... I forgot that former CU head coach Dana Altman is the HC at Oregon.

A little bit of trivia about Omaha...Gayle Sayers' brother Roger Sayers was a very good football player and great sprinter on the track team at Omaha U (University of Nebraska-Omaha)
