Crowd size……

I was there. Maybe 8.
No lines for anything.
Walked right in about 645.
Bathroom empty, 4 people at concessions
Felt like a preseason game.

My pet peeve - thousands of green shirts went unused.
Only available in 100 and 200 sections.
Why couldn’t they have given them at halftime/second half to those of us in upper deck.
They actually looked really nice.

With 5:00 left in the game, why didn't you walk down to the 100/200 level and grab a couple?

I'm eagerly awaiting the "Most schools would KILL for 8,000!" rationalization.
Unfortunately that view is espoused by more than you think.

I shudder to think what season ticket sales and attendance is going to look like next year, as I'm assuming the university is still going to give Red a 3rd year because.. well.. it's SU. Kiyan and Sadiq aren't saving this thing.

There they are...

this is sad and funny at the same time. It’s shocking to see that’s it’s come to this. But when JW is giving Red another year it’s impossible for him to ignore the home revenues losses. You can spin the attendance figures w/tickets sold but the cash register doesn’t lie.

Season 3 Showtime GIF by Dexter

I mean just the pic of last night's attendance is about as sad as it gets. How could we run Red back another year with these kind of results and continued attendance. It's such a bad look.
I wonder how much money not just SU is losing, but the Syracuse economy generally because of the basketball team.

Yeah, I got the season renewal request email.
Piss poor timing plus offering free lacrosse tickets for quick renewal.

My first year as a basketball season ticket holder.
Have been a football season ticket holder for almost 30 years.
Football came thru, not so basketball.
I will keep my seats in section 309 for bball, might even try moving down a few rows.
I have faith it will come back again, but may not be for another few years.
Unlike others, I don't believe this current disaster is because of Boeheim and a lack of talent.
Frankly, there is no way we get this disgraceful product if Boeheim was the coach.
With the same talent, he would maximize what we have.
We would not have beaten Louisville last night, but we would not have lost by 24 points.
His teams normally played with a sense of pride, and the never give up mentality.
And JB knew how to coach. There is a reason we only had 1 losing season with him - and even that team was not flat out bad.
We also miss Gerry's presence. Not only for his ability to coach shooters but his never say die attitude.

I never thought I would miss JB's press conferences but they were better than Reds now where he often acts like a deer in the headlights.

He's got a 6 year old?

Damn, I'm old.
"This is embarrassing. I know Syracuse basketball has to be better than this." FIFY.

If you look at KenPom... Syracuse is #128. We are below WOFFORD. Wofford! I bet more than 8,000 people show up to see Wofford play. If you want to be below teams that would be thrilled to be a 12 seed... you cannot expect attendance to match up with teams competing to be last four out--much less what Syracuse came to expect for 40 years...

Rhodes getting ripped in the comments.
If college sports are now essentially professional sports, then it’s not a leap to see college fans act like pro fans.

Gillette Stadium had loads of empty seats the back half of this season. No one locally was suggesting that Pats fans needed to be better. When the team stinks a lot less people want to make the effort to attend.

approx 12K of the 19,750 fans didn't show up-
That's a lot of concession and parking $.
And not sustainable.
The financial reality of this situation is the only way they will move on. The university is going to be out $10M plus (guesstimate) this season on expected revenue from tix and food/drinks

I knew things were getting bad, but that photo really drives it home.

Shocking.
First game of the year I went to, and it was the most pathetic & non engaged crowd I’ve ever seen in the dome in my life for a MBB game. The fans are simply matching the play/energy of the team.

It’s bad bad, and it’s not going to get better.
