Csonka and Morris

Someone should bring Joe Morris to the attention of Mark Coyle, being he is new here. Maybe Crusty can make a card with the suggestion, which all could sign. Kind of a friendly petition. Let's honor Joe as the all-time Syracuse rushing leader deserves. #47 in the rafters.

I am fairly confident that he has heard of Joe Morris.

Zonk got robbed on the Heisman, Gary Beban was always a nobody, but UCLA had the PR machine going.
i'd never heard of beban. he had 8 td and 7 int that year. was him winning the heisman some kind of prank? OJ was on that team. and SU demolished them the last game

If bean hadn't won, OJ would have won instead. And Ron Goldman's Dad would have bookend Heismans.

Cause Csonka was white.

Don't forget Csonka shared a backfield with Little who was a 3 time All American. Had he gone somewhere else he would have been the big dog in the backfield.

He was his senior year.

czonka "jimbo' nance and morris were great!!!! they just did not wear 44!! ask the dolphins, giants the and the ne patriots care what number they wore. btw read the hx on nance , particularly after his career, to see what su football commitment was all about

True enough there was a 1 year gap ... unfortunately I wasn't born until 77 so I didn't get to see them on the hill ... so I am working just off of memorizing rosters and what I have read.

Larry's the one in the middle.

My father was on his team and talked about nance all the time. Said he was an animal.

Big Jim Nance roomed at 149 Stadium Place, near the Archbold entrance, with the rest of the wrestling team. I roomed there those years. If memory serves, I think he won the NCAA championship as Super heavyweight. He was strong as an ox and had a wrestler's chiseled build. It was a real treat watching him and Floyd Little carve up a defense. Third and one? Third and two? No problem. Big Jim took it in.
