Curt Cignetti: Why can’t we hire this guy?

The Appalachian coach wouldn’t hurt. He plays N Carolina tough every year and beats them sometime. We need that.

App has been in a relative decline under Shawn Clark.

Or Jamey Chadwell?

Better get Chadwell before someone else does.

Is he better than 18-42 jack?
Houston is 13-20 in-conference and is firmly on the hot seat this year after a 1-4 start.

I'm sure that doesn't meet your standards.

As we’ve learned with Dino just because you’ve won a lot in a lower conference doesn’t mean you can win consistently in the ACC.

There are never any guarantees. But at least Dan Mullen actually won games in the SEC. He was 103-60 or there about. I'd be willing to gamble he could win more games in the ACC than Babers.

I want to see people screaming in eachother’s faces when there’s a foolish penalty. Whether it’s the captain on offense or defense, a coordinator, or the HC. They should be pissed at the offender and hold him accountable. The only time there’s any fire is when there’s a me me play. I remember seeing spit hanging out coach P’s mouth from giving people the business. I want FIRE from the coaches AND players. Find a coach that holds people accountable and has fire in him that shows in the players. I miss Dungey, he had it, and it seemed contagious back then

He might not be leaving TV. I think he's happy there.

That said, he runs a gadget offense and isn't a powerhouse recruiter. That could work at Syracuse better than Florida.

Dinos past performance is irrelevant because of the buyout. That’s no longer the case now. I think everyone agrees we would have moved on a few years if we could have. We couldn’t. It’s a moot point now.

If we win 7/8 games this year, we will keep Dino as we should. That means the team recovered past this stretch and took care of business. But if that’s the case, I hope the AD does it in a way that preserves our ability to be flexible down the road. 8-4 while losing our best talent on O will
Be a solid season. The key will be improving the team through the portal in the off-season in some key areas. If we win six and move on, it better be early in the process so we can be well positioned for the portal.

Mullen might have limitations (they all do) but the recruiting narrative is false. It's easy to go look up their rankings at the time he was a head coach. Anyhow, he would surround himself with big boy assistants - who can recruit and coach - assuming we pay up. At the end of the day, I'd gamble that a guy with poor recruiting and a gadget offense who won 100 games in the SEC could at least do better in the ACC than Babers.

Ignore the star ratings. Florida was very deficit on talent for the SEC when he left, and any Florida fan will tell you that. Part of that though is because he's a NE guy who didn't do Florida well.

If 34–15 is not doing well at a particular school then sign me up.

Mullen might be terrible, he might be terrible here, but the guy didn't get 100 wins in the MAC. He was 69-46 at Miss St., to. In 13 SEC season he only had 3 losers and won 10 game three times, and 9 games two times. Babers can only dream of being that successful.

The 34-15 is kind of deceiving. It's diminishing returns as players he inherited graduated out of the program and a 5-6 in his last season.

That said, I'm getting myself into an argument I could honestly care less about. So there's that.

So he won with another coaches players that that prior coach couldnt win with? Sounds like Babers.

......but...McElwain won with Muschamps players, Mullen won with McElwain's players and now Napier at 4-2 is winning with Mullens players. It's sort of silly saying coach XYZ won with the other guys players. That's usually how college football goes. Babers right now is losing with his own players.

Florida fans I know say Mullen was an awful fit and didn't recruit well, at least for what a team needs to be in the SEC. You can look at numbers any way you want.

Florida fans I know talk really slow and say y'all alot.

FYI - Jamey Chadwell's contract with Liberty is for seven years and averages $4M/year.

Article from two years ago about Mullen's downfall at Florida.

This part is interesting:

"Mullen spent the bulk of his first 3 seasons in Gainesville resurrecting a program that spent the bulk of the post Tim Tebow, Urban Meyer era stuck in the wilderness.

Less than a full calendar year ago, Mullen was 29-6 at Florida, the best 35-game start in the history of Florida football."
