we have an incredible 9-2 record. You would think that someone who had won an NC, Duke or UConn, would be ahead of us but they aren't.

the weird thing is that uconns NC run was fairly lackluster when you look at the ncaa tourney teams they played. a decent san diego state, and alright kentucky was about it.

'lackluster' is kind. The easiest path in memory, by far. Credit to them for winning, but my god, they barely played a decent team along the way... got all the breaks in terms of opponents.

You can only play the teams that advance. UCONN beat a 2, 4 and 5 along the away. Their side of the bracket could have been tougher if the ACC teams had held up their end of the bargain. #1 Duke lost to #5 Zona and #2 UNC lost to #4 UK. And the other side of the bracket got totally blown apart.

Just for the record, before the tourney started I had UCONN / Cuse in the semi's.

Our 96 run was given to us on a silver platter ... the easiest run I can remember:

13, 12, 8, 2, 5, 1

Our only upset was beating a 2 seed Kansas, every other game we were the favorite, until Kentucky. Not bad for a 4 seed.

But I keep reading that JB tenses up and plays scared against good teams. So this can't be right.

The stat that jumps out at you is that since 1990, Syracuse has been past the Sweet 16 just twice.

BTW, UConn is 9-5 vs top 10 teams since the start of the 2009/10 season.

and played for the title each time. Like a great program should!

True.

On the other hand, UCONN has only played in and won 3 national championship games despite making nine Elite 8's. ;)

That's the same number of title game appearances as SU has!
Seriously though, that would be more depressing if our program wasn't in such great shape right now. Luckily, there's nothing out there that could potentially kill our momentum...:bang:
