As shown below, 'Cuse is ranked #1 by the ESPN Nitty Gritty Report thru 12/16/2012. This is a reflection, according to Lunardi and ESPN Insider, a reflection, strong correlation, of how the March Tournament is seeded. As importantly, RPI for teams, strength of schedule are shown...BUT LOOK AT ROAD WINS AND NEUTRAL COURT WINS SO FAR THIS SEASON...low and behold...'CUSE IS LOOKING AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER TEAM SHOWN...OSU IS 0-1 ON ROAD GAMES AND 0-0 FOR NEUTRAL COURT...GUESS THEY TRAVEL MORE THAN 'CUSE...WHAT A JOKE...NONE OF TOP TEAMS HAVE PLAYED MORE THAN 2 GAMES ON ROAD AND THAT IS NC...

So 'Cuse really is competitive, plays as many pre-conference games on road and on neutral court as any other top team todate---blow-up the media's poor attention to detail!

Nitty Gritty Report: 2011-2012

The NCAA Selection Committee frequently compares teams or groups of teams using what is called a "Nitty Gritty" report. Our Bracketologists have replicated that data and use it each week to project the NCAA tournament field (not looking for discussion on whether this RPI or SOS is best out there...but rather showing how Lunardi picks his brackets and rates teams...NO ONE SHOULD CHALLENGE 'CUSE'S SCHEDULING...
Top four teams and NC shown:
Team RPI SOS Road Neutral
1. Syracuse 2 11 0-0 2-0
2. Duke 1 7 0-0 5-0
3. OSU 28 146 0-1 0-0
4. KY 6 57 0-1 3-0

7. NC 17 69 1-1 2-1

what do you think?

I'm not sure I follow. Cuse has played 2 neutral court games, and no road games. But they are playing today on the road, so fine. 2 neutral site games, and 1 road game.

Ohio state is th eonly other team in the top 4 with that kind of distribution. Duke has played 5 neutral site games, and it played at Ohio STate. (Not sure why that says Duke hasn't played a road game).
Kentucky has played 1 road game, and 3 neutral site games. And UNC has played 2 road games, and 3 neutral sites. So if you add them up, road+neutral looks like this

Duke: 6
UNC: 5
Kentucky: 4
Cuse: 2 (about to be 3)
Osu: 1

So OSU hasn't played a lot of road/neutral. And I've knocked their schedule. (though they have played 3 really good teams so far). Furthermore, I don't think you can just focus on the number. Duke played at Ohio State. We're playing at NC State. The number of road games may be the same, but the difficulty of those road games aren't. We've played Stanford and Va Tech on neutral site, Duke has played Michigan, Michigan State, and Kansas. (Among others).

And the thing I have focused on isn't just the SOS number. Especially this early in the year, the SOS is just based on won/loss record. As I've said, I prefer the Kenpom SOS rankings, which have SU and OSU way down in the 240's.
