Clemson's sports revenue last year was $112.6 million. Lets say that $50M is for FB. The leader of that revenue stream is Dabo.
Its not his position that should be paid. He should be compensated based upon his value to that program.

He is making them money. Why wouldn’t they. U take care of people that show u the money. They are light years now from where they were 10-12 years ago.

I totally get it. I was not saying he shouldn't be paid that. If that's what the market will bear, so be it.

I was saying it is crazy for a football coach to make that kind of money.

"In 2008, 15,542 students applied for freshman admission to Clemson. In 2018, 28,844 students applied, an 86 percent increase."

Clemson's evolution from an average-good football program to an elite one I would guess is the biggest driver behind those enrollment numbers. It's free advertising, of which Dabo is most responsible.

I agree it is a shiiiiiiiit ton. I feel Dino will be our Dabo and will will start fighting them every year tough and win some.

35,000 applied to SU...means Dino is worth more than Dabo

Probably a corresponding buyout figure. All to keep everyone else, including the elephant, away from him.

Usually when they rework the head coach's deal, they rework the assistants' too. The standard seems to be the same amount as the HC's salary to be distributed between the 9, now 10, assistants. Could be more. But either way, we're probably talking about just under $1 million/year average for each assistant. And we're not even counting the dozens of support staff. The football staff salaries at Clemson must be north of $20 million/year.

Is he allowed to buy his players dinner as a token of appreciation for helping him get paid?
Yes. Team event. Heck, at SU, with GROB. If they won, steak and lobster. If they lost, hamburgers and hotdogs.

What do you think the morality clause is on a coach’s contract like that?

I bet 1/2 or more is not paid by the university but paid by their booster club.
Yup. The Clemson fans are top notch making donations to support the football program. We are unfortunately at the other end of the bell curve here, at least in terms of ACC schools.

I think this bump is a preemptive strike designed to keep Dabo in Clemson for the rest of his career. A Tuscaloosa address for Dabo is less likely than it was yesterday.

What you say is accurate in our current culture. That there is so much money wrapped up in sports speaks to the priorities we have in our society and how they may be a little mixed up.

Whats the buyout?
I hope this helps keep Dabo instead of Alabama scarfing him up when the devil claims Sabans soul :)
