I stand by it because he will be able to recruit if he is going to a better conference with a better chance to play for a NC and is getting more $$$$ for the program.

Agree with you that $ over a HC's recruiting concern drives the school's decision.

But I don't agree that Clemson necessarily recruits better or has any better access to a NC by going. If FSU and Clemson stay, the ACC won't be left out of any playoff. Just won't happen. And putting Clemson as an outpost in that league will probably benefit South Carolina's recruiting more than Clemson. Gamecocks are probably praying for it to happen.

Correct. More $$$. Point is, $$$, NC (better conference) are the considerations, not "recruiting". A good team in a good conference will be able to recruit. PSU has for years.

A good point. Not to mention, there isn't quite the culture or geographical difference of western PA to most of the schools in the Big 10. Versus South Carolina and the heartland.

I'm picturing Spurrier on the recruiting trail in the southeast. "Well, if you want to play all 12 games near your friends and family, then you should come here. But if you want to take trips to Iowa and Kansas, then maybe you should play for the other guys".

I agree. That's why I posted the league lineups side by side. It's comical. The BIG XII may have distributed more money this year, but it won't be that way forever. The school brands in the ACC are much stronger and more aspirational. Texas Tech? Iowa State? At least the ACC's football bottom feeders have near Ivy level academics and big time basketball tradition (Duke and BC).
