At least there are enough OL that they don't have to leave spots on the depth chart open. I think right now it's still like an NFL squad. They have one primary back up OT (Knapp), OG (Palmer), and Center (Emerich). My guess is that if Mackey went down, (Gawd forbid) Trudo would slide over and Palmer would come in.

I have to disagree. I think Emerich would step in. No point in sliding Trudo over, Emerich will be the C next year, and has performed very well. He was someone Marrone always praised, same with this staff.

I agree with Anomander, but I also agree with Go's bigger point. Looks like those are the top 3 OL reserves. The question is: can Miller / Lasker get into the mix, and what [if anything] are they capable of providing?

I love the depth on the interior, but I'm worried about OT. Behind Knapp, do we just have true frosh as developmental prospects?

I know this is mostly talk for this season, but the more confusing part is it is looking like we are only bringing in another 2 or 3 lineman in this recruiting cycle. If we lose Mackey, and probably Hickey, I don't see how we are going to improve the depth. We must really be banking on the development of our projects.

Yes the depth at OT is concerning. Knapp is the 1st man called, but I am really thinking Lasker will be good once he gets used to the game speed.

Emerich will be in if Macky goes down.

We have depth at guard. Quality is the question mark. Palmer had a big, big camp.

Mavety is crazy not coming here. Would start Day 1. Can talk to Pugh.

I'd have to assume the coaches/Pearle have exactly who they/he wants to go in when needed rotation wise. I wonder if some of the linemen struggle against stunts/blitzes in practice but would be fine vs the more straight up d's?

Going to have to bring in at least one JUCO linemen next year. Would be perfect if they could get a tackle with 3 years to play 2 or 3 years to play 3 etc. Don't forget we also have the kid from Chicago who wants to play TE that I think we all agree will be moved back to Tackle proabably by next years spring game. Some of our projects are going to need some time to get any where close to game ready, not sure we can count on them for next year.

Pearle was out of a job for a year. I hope he's up to this job.

I have more faith since it's just the o-line than if he was the OC. I'm hoping he took at step back in that year off and relearned what he knew and set out to improve his current knowledge. Sometimes taking that step back and recalibrating is the best thing that can happen to a coach.
