Daniel Jones to NFL Draft

Wasn't impressed all that much. Had some good throws and had some bad ones. Temple stunk. They lost their head coach and were ill-prepared for the game.

Anyone who is an NFL Draft “expert” who doesn’t work for an NFL team doesn’t really know anything. Someone with 10k twitter followers who does a podcast and claims so and so is a 1 or so and so is a 5 doesn’t no anything more then you or I do

Lol you think a bowl performance against an American team is dunking on people?
The guy could go 41 for 41 500 yards 6 TDs. It doesn’t mean anything said here is wrong.
The guy has to show he can make NFL throws into tight windows, throw passes before the receiver breaks, show he can read NFL defenses.
Paxton Lynch had better games than this and has been a bust. Christian Ponder, Jake Locker, Blake Bortles, EJ Manuel their are tons of busts.
I can see being skeptical of Jones as an NFL QB.

Well you guys were talking like he was hot garbage.

Who are you talking about?

The guy wasn’t even first team all-ACC.
Ryan Finley had better numbers.
I thought honestly Jones was the 4th best QB in the ACC this year.
Finley/Lawrence/Dungey.
Now he is a better QB prospect than Dungey.
I just think the Cutcliffe hype from Peyton and Eli rubs off on Jones.

I don’t think watching him play this year he is a starting NFL QB.
I watched the Northwestern and Virginia Tech games for Duke and Jones wasn’t good.
I see him as a Cutcliffe system guy.

FWIW, Kiper has him 3rd QB and going late 1st. And that was with Hebert in the draft.

Hot garbage was hyperbole obviously. However I have watched maybe 6 Duke games this year and he hasn't impressed me in terms of NFL talent. He's a good D1 QB. He isn't Trubisky level. I see him more as a Chase Daniel kinda guy. He may make a team but there is limited ceiling and likely doesnt hang around past his rookie contract.

If Dungey had those numbers against Temple this board would be changing its collective underwear.

He’s a very good college QB. I guess he started cold. It happens. It’s a 60 minute game.

I hope he goes pro. I could care less if or where he gets drafted. We know all too well that doesn’t mean you weren’t a great college QB.

had to update this, this 3 play sequence, jones overthrows his receiver by 5-7 yards and wasn't even close, announcer says he really likes the spiral, then throws a ball behind his wide open receiver and took a sack. Remember these ESPN experts have never played coached or worked in the NFL yet they somehow know how to evaluate NFL players, will grier and drew lock are 1000x better than daniel jones

Even guys who were in the booth that had coaching experience sucked at evaluating QB's

Dungey is gonna put up those numbers against West Virginia later today

I remember arguing with someone on here like 4 years ago that was trying to tell me Deshone Kizer was going to be a great NFL QB. I think it may have been BPO. I can't remember. Either way the board has a bad track record predicting who will be a good QB.

Lol. The NFL has a bad track record at predicting who will be a good QB

How is Daniel Jones even considered an NFL prospect, meanwhile ESPN announcers are saying maybe 1st round, he plays in a very weak ACC Coastal, is a 59% passer with 17 TD & 7 INT, not a dual threat QB, I've watched him play a few times and nothing jumps off the screen, if the NFL evaluator will continue to pick the Paxton lynch and nate peterman over the guys who have moxey, thats why NFL games are 24-21 and have no offense. Eric Dungey is 10x the player Daniel Jones could dream of being, and thats watching the games and looking at the stats.

I haven't scouted Jones much yet, but just based on his stats, he certainly seems like he has some running ability. He ran for almost 200 yards against UNC this year lol. You don't do that if you can't move a decent amount.

Without even getting into scouting him yet, this QB class is weak enough that the media and possibly NFL teams themselves will push guys that aren't really deserving into the 1st-2nd round picture; maybe Jones is that guy, I don't know.

So far, the only guys I've scouted are Lock, Herbert (returning to school obviously), Haskins, Shea Patterson, Clayton Thorson, and Ryan Finley. I think Lock is a legitimately good 1st round prospect (though most of this was based on watching film from last season). Haskins looks like a fringe 1st rounder to me (though it sounds like he'll end up going top 5 most likely). I think Patterson could be an interesting guy based on his relatively low draft stock; I have a late 2nd, early 3rd round grade on him but it sounds like most people have him lower. Finley looks like a career backup to me; I have a 5th round grade on him.

Yeah because GM's and fans fall in love with physical tools and tend to overlook turnover rate/accuracy which usually carry with a player when they go in the NFL. Now physical tools are important to a point, but if you turnover the ball at a high rate in college you are going to in the NFL as well. It's why Jameis Winston is trash.
