Darrell Gill in the portal?????

Not surprised. Not a good blocker and really struggled vs press coverage. If you remove the colgate game he dominated, he had 300+ with 25 catches.

He was put in the #1 spot to win 50/50 and couldn't win 10% of those.

Overheard D Gill gonna hit the portal..
Thanks for the good memories - saw the UConn game in person last year. Good luck wherever you land, provided it's not someone we play.

Next man up.

Wasn’t a great season for anyone on offense last year. Can see wanting a change. Also don’t undersell how talented the freshman receivers are. They will play day one.

Some of these guys also need to understand that to get to the next level playing on Specials will help and you need size or toughness to do that. they dont carry a ton of WRs who cant help them in other ways in the NFL

Would be disappointing.

Don't blame him, after how the last 2/3 of the season unfolded, and our congenital incapability of throwing the ball effectively. Gill has NFL aspirations, and probably wants to not take the risk.

I know this will sound like copium, but losing guys we want to keep to the portal is an inevitability each year.

And while I loved Gill's ascension (sincerely), WR is one of the positions where I think we can make up ground between recruits and the portal on our end.

HOWEVER, we aren't talking Jeremiah Smith here.

But I do think he can be productive wherever he goes and hope he is.

Spectacular is exactly what he is. Maybe not consistent, but you don't get compared to Randy Moss without being spectacular.

He didn't get compared to Randy Moss, he Moss'd a guy (he high pointed a catch over a defender or defenders a la Randy Moss that is a de facto title to doing that nowadays). It's a thing.

No one would compare him to Randy Moss in full. That would be insane.
