Darrell Gill in the portal?????

Gill would be the #1 WR i’d want to keep. Home run hitter and has shown over 2 years he can make plays against elite defenders and produce.

If we’re going to lose someone, let it be a slot.

I don’t expect Russell to come in and start from day 1. His highlights dont scream plug and play. This would be disappointing.

For what it's worth, I was told before the end of the year that Gill would portal. We have a lot of guys in the WR room to pay/retain and it's hard to keep them all. I was pretty surprised when he said he was coming back.

Who is worth paying to retain outside of cook and gill? I barely even know anyone else’s name

He’s a solid wide receiver. He appeared to be a little disengaged the past few games. He had several opportunities to make big catches, but never over extended to get the ball. He was terrific when Angeli was healthy. You don’t want to lose experience.

Absolutely. He is/was our best receiver. Too bad our Angeli les QB's couldn't throw the ball to him. They couldn't throw period.

Darius Johnson was having a really really good camp before he got injured. Would like to keep him around, same with Ross. I’d like to keep both of them on top of Gill/Cook. Adding Calvin/Gough/ to that group would make it a really really nice WR room. Didn’t mention Darien Williams who I also really like.

Cook is solid, he’s not as good as Gill. I think people forget that Gill had one of if not the lowest drop percentages in college football with McCord. He may not have had a single drop last year. If I have to pick a receiver to make a tough catch when needed I’m taking Gill 10 out of 10 times over Cook.

Meeks was the possession receiver with McCord. Whenever we needed a catch that's where the ball went.

gill had some moments and was decent. but we are going to hvae to lose WR's. we have Ross, Russell, Russell, Gough, Cook, Horsnby, and Williams, and others.

Don’t we typically have 14-16 WRs on the team, and that was when the scholarship limit was 85!?

He had a lot of garbage time stats. A few times this year I was shocked that he was still in the game late making catches.

I like Cook and I am glad that we have him. But I think it is a lot easier to be productive out of the slot and thus easier to replace. I think the drop of from Gill to whomever starts is bigger than the drop off from Cook to our other slots. He now have to replace both JRS and Gill.

Cook had 21 catches for 256 yards and his two lone TDs when we were down by 15+ points. He had 24 for 293 in all other situations.

We have you guys like willaims, both Russells, Boobie Johnson, Gough and other WRs who redshirted. I think we will have a easier time replacing hill than explosive and ELITE Johntay cook.

I’m not sure how you can look at any of our receivers this year and say they played well. Common denominator, no QB. Gill looked fantastic early in the season. Once Angeli was out you can’t fault Gill as he’s the deep ball guy.

I think young guys like Boobie can replace Gill next season or down the line.

Gill is our best, most polished potential returning WR. Hopefully he doesn't leave but understand and wish him well if he does.

Those stating Cook is better than Gill in any regard are crazy and living off recruiting rankings. Gill is bigger, faster, stronger and has much better hands and bigger catch radius. Not a knock on Cook but Gill is just better and more productive.

I agree — I don’t expect Russell to come in and dominate right away, but I do expect him to give solid production, and I think he will. Boobie Johnson, Tyshawn Russell, and Darien have all shown flashes, and with a second year in the system, I believe one of those three will break out. In my opinion, that guy will be Boobie Johnson. And let’s not forget the speedster Amare Gough, who can take the top off a defense as well.

I would be surprised if Gill entered the portal.

Have met and tailgated with his Mom. Seems to really like Cuse.

He has threatened the portal before and then ultimately stayed.

If Gill has floated the idea of portaling it would be strictly money based IMO.

I would assume we would take care of him to an extent much like we did with Pena, before Pena sought out more $$$
