Dave was married to my friend and classmate Ginny Frykman who, as I recall, was president of the Panhellenic Association at SU (a big deal at the time). I knew Dave through Ginny, but not well. He was well known on campus because of his baseball and basketball accomplishments.

Yes, Helen Gott, who was Ernie's girlfriend, was a close friend. We are still in touch.
