Day Seven Fall Camp: Sunday, August 6, 2017

What's a run fit? I get the general idea, but I've never heard the term before.

run fits are normally half speed drills, meant for defenders to get proper reads, take proper angles and finish with a form tackle. All gaps have to be accounted for and proper pursuit angles need to be takened. \

edit: you can go full speed too.

We've switched to grey barrels?
You mean the trash cans, unused I hope. I saw a tweet the other day of another team using them also. Must be a Rubbermaid thing because I think I noticed they were the supplier of the outdoors ice tubs also.

No Valdez on either unit. Looks like newcomers have to earn their spots. Same with the transfer at CB.

It will be interesting to see if the transfers can break through into the first team by the end of preseason camp.
I agree.

A lot of times S.O.P. is that the newcomers spend a lot of time on the second and third units during the first week or two.

If you insert them with the ones right away sometimes you can get backlash from the players who have been in the program.

Not saying that's the case here, but a lot of times it is. If they are going to make a push for the first team I'd expect them to start getting mixed in next week.

Is Valdez on campus yet? Thought he was a later arrival.

What's a blue shirt other than a Ranger?
Recruiting’s color wheel: Redshirt, greenshirt, grayshirt, blueshirt

Meanwhile, blueshirts represent the newest loophole for FBS programs to accumulate depth while not affecting their annual numbers. Like grayshirt recruits, blueshirts are counted toward the next season’s scholarship total.

There is one distinct difference, however. Unlike grayshirts, a blueshirt is able to enroll and participate in team events in the fall. This allows programs to get the best of both worlds: FBS schools can delay a scholarship for the following year, allowing them to over-sign beyond the 25-scholarship limit, and get the use of a prospect immediately rather than waiting until the following spring.

The use of a blueshirt was first popularized by New Mexico State, which would support its numbers by enrolling prospects right after the beginning of the fall semester and then place them on scholarship. Tennessee has also embraced the use of blueshirts under coach Butch Jones.
