I get this gut feel we're all gonna be real happy we got this Elmore kid to flip and not follow Fleck

I think Elmore will contribute from Day 1.

I really like the thought of taking a kid with some RB skills and the size of D-1 guard and playing him in the backfield, especially given the run blocking deficiencies we have.

Elmore could be more than a "short yardage" specialist, or extra blocker. Hopefully, his presence/skills will help against teams that try to play us with fewer numbers in the box - every good ACC D tried to play us that way B/c of the absence of any type of inside running game.

Think it's a good situational option, we lose a Xtra WR by putting a FB in but like to have options.

If he can run routes and catch, we can punish teams for trying to go small to match up.

Great point. FSU played the entire game in a 3-3-5 and dropped all three linebackers in coverage and SU still couldn't run the ball.

Teams aren't really "g0ing small to match up" as much as they are walking out the Sam and Will to take away the perimeter and quick passing game. Most teams handled out run game with only 5 in the box, leaving 6 to cover 4 or 5.

You can also motion a RB like Moe or Strick to the slot to get to 5 WR sets with Elmore, or 4 and TE. Elmore and also shift to TE from RB pre snap. Lots of variations beyond using him as a traditional FB.

The key is having a kid with Elmore's size who can function as RB/TE enough to force Ds to play honest up front.

I get that hope springs eternal, but last year we didn't even really ever use a full back, we're talking about a true freshman, and this thread is throwing out all-time NFL and college great as comps. It's hilarious.

It cracks me up how every so often during camp the board gets all hot and bothered over a fullback and the guy ends up barely playing and never sees the ball once things really matter. Everybody may as well have their fun though this time of year.
