Day Six Spring Practice: Wednesday, March 23, 2022

Are we finally going to see the coaching staff actually scheming WR's open? What a novel concept.
I think the option route concept can work really well if run correctly. It literally makes the defense make the wrong choice everytime. The problem lies with whether all of the moving pieces are making the right reads. Going away from that and scheming guys open allows the players to think less, which is also good. Just worry about doing your job and it's up to the coaches to put you in a position for success. Whichever concept we run, I just want guys to be able to execute.

Those three.are all maturing. I thought it was interesting about changing the offensive culture.

Have we seen Rhino much this spring?

Are we expected to?

Also gotta love GS he gets asked about the competition. They mention lamson and Villari and he makes sure he reminds the press that Jacobian is in there too as well.

True team guy. Excited to see what he can do.

He’s 100% the guy this year, DB has allowed him to switch his number from 16 to 6 and as we know, that’s a big deal for Dino to be a single digit guy

Steve Linton. He’s been getting raves for 2 years now. What are we going to get here? Will he ever be heavy enough to be a 3 down guy?

agree. Time for him to step up and play more downs. The kid can be very good. He doesn’t help as much when can’t stay healthy and his snaps are limited.

A few good questions, but so many questions that are begging for cliches. "How's Garrett looking"-What do you think the player is gonna say? He looks horrible? I wish they'd ask to name a few young guys that are sticking out.
This...Bailey asks some good questions but many times the reporters ask questions which have obvious, robotic replies. Just how Dino likes it. ;-)

Yup, as a newly tenured professor, Rhino got stuck with the dreaded 8am class. Fortunately his TAs can cover for him on some days.
Imagine Derek the second year Ph.D candidate lining up in the backfield to pick up the delayed blitz

He always seemed to me like the ideal OLB type in a 3-4. Or even our 3-3, but he'd obviously have to wait in line with our starting LBs.

Do you think it will work as a down lineman in our 3-3?

Related, it seems like this could be one of our best overall starting groups of LB/DB in recent history. Is that crazy talk? Do I need to wait to see if the transfer safeties are as good as their offers/reputations?

I felt the same way. Its hard for some people to run in space at 6-5. He's probably one of those guys that struggled with that but has great burst and change of direction as a weak side end. I just wished he weighed at least 240.

LB is our best unit. Just not as deep as I would like. Secondary has a lot of potential. Lets see what looks good on paper comes to fruition on the field,

Hopefully some of the young LB's start to develop and are getting some meaningful snaps in spring practice. We are set with the starters for sure.

I don't see how Linton can play every down at his current weight. He obviously should be explosive on passing downs. Even on running downs, he should have the ability to shoot gaps and will make plays here and there, but he is so light that his play will also likely result in big chunk run plays for the opposing offense. O-lineman will be able to push him around and open large holes as well. Seems likely we get big plays both ways with him. I mean 217 lbs, if that is accurate, is small LB size.
