Always a tough job these days of high scoring offenses and rules favoring the offense. Scoring plays can always look preventable and some infuriating. Bend but don't break can be tough to watch as well.

Fans really don't see everything that happens on television and the DC often gets blamed for player mistakes or good offensive play.

We entered the season with uneven talent and many new players unaccustomed to playing together, many in a new scheme. Most observers had serious concerns about every position room except except lb.

ER has had his good (UNLV) and bad (Stanford) high profile moments, part of the territory. That said, we are holding own in the ACC.

Given what he has had to work with, a good first effort. Looks like he will only get better, notwithstanding the challenge Miami represents.

Given the fewer number of plays opposing offenses have been running, you really have to look at yards per play. Idk where we stand on that metric but that feels like a more objective stat to use.

Issue was some of the corners but getting Barnes back was huge. Need some more talent there.

Sure, but YPP can also be misleading if the bulk of the yardage is between the 20's.

The only D metric that matters to me is points allowed. Unfortunately this D gets penalized because the offense has given up 4 pick 6s, and special teams has given up a punt block TD (may be another punt block deep in our territory I forget), point is that’s 35 points charged to the defense in the stats.

Get rid of him. Terrible. I’m normally very level headed about our program but playing passive on defense against a team who refused to throw is a fireable offense. We lost to BC because of coaching, period.

Before the year started all we heard is that we are going to be an attacking defense. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. I’m angry about this loss because we are exponentially more talented and the coaching failed us.

VaTech did have their starting qb and RB. We rallied to beat their 2nd string.

I think it’s both. Our guys are that bad. They’re soft and undisciplined. But the coaching was also terrible.

I’m as pissed as anyone but let’s give these coaches at least a year to get some kids in here that can play. We are over reacting a bit. They proved they can upgrade the talent on offense and a little on D. Now keep it going. Need more beef.

But teams figure it out every year even when guys go down. Thats what coaching is for.

Beg to differ. We are 8th out of 17 teams in the ACC on rum defense. We are only 5 ypg away from 6th. Players cannot be that bad.

Did you just diminish our two best defenders while praising the transfer who’s been the biggest disappointment based on expectations? Am I taking crazy pills?

Yeah, diggs attacks. All the way deep into the backfield and out of the play.

Both can be true that were down Tank, Jobity, Jaquez, Ingraham, Wax was hobbling around, starting a true 3-star freshman in Watson and a sophomore in Perry. Its just frustrating to see no adjustments when they threw the ball 10 times.
