I'm curious if he's related to the late, great Cortland State DE R-Kal Truluck.
R-Kal died from ALS in 2019, which is incredibly shocking if you had seen him play in his prime. A good friend of mine went to Cortland State as a QB, and he got out in front of everyone in practice on a designed bootleg. He thought he was headed for a sure touchdown when he looked behind him and saw this 6 ft 4 in behemoth quickly chasing him down.
Truluck ended up playing in the NFL and CFL for a long time. From all accounts, he was a great guy and a physical specimen. It's so sad he died before his time.
Here's a story about
R-Kal from the Washington Post in 1997. He made the most of a life that should have been derailed many times.
