Class of 2021 DE Tunmise Adeleye (FL) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/12/26)

Coach P would take a chance on a troubled kid sometimes. Maybe one or two each class.

He said it was safe to do provided the other kids were good.

I think Fran is emulating him here…..

He also visited Mississippi State and NC State but we know the pizza in those places stinks.
Luckily UConn didn't get involved because Syracuse does not compete with New Haven style pizza

Can someone explain to me why this is a great get. He seems solid, but I'm generally unclear why some here are so excited.
He started producing at UNLV. A former borderline 5 star edge rusher with a 2nd-3rd round NFL draft projection out of High School. People are hoping that with a defensive coordinator like Vince Kehres, the best is brought out of this guy and is NFL bound after a great season.

6 sacks last year...which would have led our team! We lose Jobity who had 5, then nobody else had more than 2.5 on our whole team. I'm more excited about the other DE pickup, but this is a very solid #2/#3 with Tremble and the new guy Johnson

I guess I want a lower level guy to have a little more on the sack front. I do like that he appears to be a good run stopper.

I think some are sleeping on the potential we could have next season getting to the QB

UNLV & UT Martin kids are a threat to do so.
Especially as we start to get later into the season, I'm sure that is the plan for when they hope to start getting Rodgers and Wilson involved, though it would be excellent if they somehow are ready to go day 1.

and the funny (or not so funny) thing is I think Jobity had 3 of those in the Pitt game

Six sacks and 7.5 TFLs on top of 48 tackles in the Mountain West is nothing to scoff at. Also, great size for an Edge who was productive.

The only crazy part is that it's his 5th school in 5 years.

He was ranked the 39th best player in the class of 2021 by 247. Everyone wanted him.

Love getting a kid like this and Johnson- both guys coming into basically what is a contract year albeit from different starting paths. Clearly both with talent and just needing to fit within the new DCs philosophy.

South Florida
Not that good. It's all about what you get used to.

I think you just nailed it actually. He does have some sacks, it also doesn’t account for how disruptive he could be with just pressures. Add in being a good run stopper which we badly need. This is a very solid get.

If he actually had 43 QB pressures, that number is way more exciting than 6 sacks. It begs the question where that stat came from, though. According to Google PFF had him at 36 pressures, still an immense number. To put it in perspective, the top P4 pass rusher had 33 last season, and 21 pressures would have gotten you in the top 10.

He’s a really good player in a position of utmost need
Vegas nick mentioned him being undersized as one of the reasons he didn’t like this pickup.

I don’t see it on tape.

I could see him getting another 5-7 sacks with us.

He will thrive under our DC and given that this is his last year he is playing for a shot at the league. Everyone is expecting him to be better this coming season than he was this year. Kid has all of the gifts to be very good

We will see how good this scheme is at creating pressure without blitzing all the time. If it is good at creating some confusion it only helps guys who created some pressure before.

We seldom beat guys 1v1 last year without adding rushers.
The blitz packages my pats were running against Herbert were perfectly executed.

Would be a dream come true to see something similar.
