Death, taxes and Notre Dame flaming out in the NCAAs

Why does everyone in the BE have so much trouble with ND yet when you watch them in the NCAA they look sooo slow and plodding? Which is the optical illusion?

We actually beat ND soundly by around 15 this year and it was without James. They looked bad when they played here. Wonder how many of their wins were at home this year? They had a big home winning streak at one time and were a very mediocre team when not playing home.
