death, taxes...

Bill Self better get Painter a nice Xmas present.

If that was SU, I would have thrown something through the tv.

even though i jinxed it, this is good for us in the long run.

I dont get the lets hope kansas wins to knock off unc, unc without marshall is donezooooo, i want no parts of kansas

Ballsy alley-oop from halfcourt down 3 with a minute left. Actually replace 'ballsy' with 'stupid' and that's all you'd hear about in the analysis of this game if it didn't connect.

Agreed as much as I enjoy a Kansas choke job it would given North Carolina a bye now atleast they potentially have to earn it. Also, KU looked awful against Purdue's zone so I would love a KU-SU rematch in NOLA.

Were going to you up Jayhawks.

UNC still has 3 NBA front court players. They won't need Marshall to beat us they would EAT US ALIVE on the boards. Atleast KU isn't as talented and can be contained. I want no part of UNC if we are lucky enough to win the East region. Plus, I want another team that could potentially beat Kentucky alive cause I don't like them immensely.

purdue last 3 possessions after being up 3 with about a minute left.

dribble around, jack up a long 3, which leads to a long rebound to kansas which leads to a fastbreak dunk.

dribble around for 30 seconds, turn it over which leads to a fast break layup.

take a tough 3 when you only need a 2 to win the game, which leads to a fast break dunk.

kansas went from down 3 to up 3 cuz of 3 incredibly awful purdue offensive possessions which directly led to 3 kansas fast break dunks. dont think ive ever seen anything like that. they didnt have to score out of the half court set in last 2 minutes to win game.

And robinson and withey wouldnt? Marshall makes that team go...they literally have no pg, good luck against the zone with that

It's amazing how much of a pass Kansas gets for this - everyone remembers Syracuse-Vermont, but it wasn't even the biggest upset of the day. Kansas going down to Bucknell was, but that's almost an afterthought that people don't remember until you mention it. Weird...

Bucknell's coach didn't retire after the game and immediately take a job with ESPN.

I know Self won a NC a few years ago, but since taking the KU job, he's also lost to a #14, #13, #11 and #9. The last two as a #1 seed. This isn't talked about enough.

I'm sure their board's version of Blue Curtain and Igor harp on it. I still remember Kansas' ineptitude in the tourney under Roy, especially during the Paul Pierce years. No final fours in a 4 year stretch of 3 #1 seeds and a #2 seed from 1995 - 1998.
1995 #1 seed loses to #4 seed Virginia in sweet 16. Game was played in Kansas City, MO.
1996 #2 seed loses to #4 seed Syracuse in elite 8. Couldn't take advantage of busted bracket and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn
1997 #1 seed loses to #4 seed Arizona in sweet 16. This team was tops in the country almost the entire season.
1998 #1 seed loses to #8 seed Rhode Island in 2nd round. By far the biggest choke on this list. Totally panicked down the stretch.

Personally, I loved every minute of those debacles. What's funny is that both coaches have had a ton of success outside Kansas. Williams now has two NCs. Self took Tulsa to the Elite Eight, then he took Illinois to the Elite Eight the following year, then he put together a team that would eventually reach the NC game after he took the KU job. He was a better coach before KU and Williams became a better coach after.

Although I still think Williams is overrated.

Show me a coach who hasn't underperformed in the NCAAT and I'll show you a coach who doesn't get good enough players.

That '97 team was THE dominant team that year. Think they only had 1 loss going into the tournament. Everyone had them as a lock final 4 team and most winning it all. That arizona loss was stunning.

You guys seem to forget that only one team can win this tournament every year. Its damn near impossible to have consistent success in this mother. And by consistent success, I mean the type like we expect or KU expects. Two elite 8's in a row type success.
