Defensive Coordinators, Year 3

My point there was that in college football, teams usually play much better when they have an experienced senior QB who can run the offense and has started and played against great teams at home and on the road. The other players on the team can see that and it bolsters them. And as far as Shafer goes I would defend him and any other coach who lost all their QB's and are down to walkon's 2 years in a row.
Shafer didn't lose any qb's when he was the defensive coordinator. Why is it so hard for people to separate the years he spent at DC and the years he spent at HC?

Teams play better when the qb is capable of executing the offense. It's why Marvin Graves won the starting job as a RFr over a senior, Donovan McNabb beat out Keith Downing despite being younger, and Dungey beat out older qb's when Hunt went down. An injured qb likely won't execute as well as a healthy one that is not a drop off in talent.

Shafers defenses were so great that his best team gave up 48 to a 5-7 Northwestern team and 56 to Georgia Tech because he had zero idea how to stop the option. Then his last year here we were absolutely shredded every game.
He was not the DC then, Chuck Bullough was.

I think the team would adjust enough and win that game.

This defense is lucky they won't face GTech this year or they might give up 1000 yards rushing.
