Definition of a mediocre program

Let's be real about the 360 teams. Yes that's all of Division 1 but we should realistically be comparing ourselves to the Power 5 teams and a handful of conferences outside that, not Savannah State.
That’s fair, but the rest of the point remains true

The coach got his kid into the NBA. Who cares whatever else happens and we won some tournament games years we should have been in the NIT. Forget about the fact that he was handed a final four team all those years ago, had a Dome built for him, and the Big East coming about gave the program more exposure than anyone at the time hes the only person who can win at this school and should be able to coach a few more years and then demand an assistant gets the job next.

Think it was more sanctions, and our coach getting really old that did us in.

But at this point, can’t say for sure. We’ll see what happens. If Kadary, Bras, and QG don’t transfer, we’re probably top 25 and a solid 4-5 seed type team this past season.

People have been leaving here as soon as possible for awhile now.
JB,s age is an interesting point. Age affected JohnThompsons last yrs recruiting at GT, but N Carolina and Duke never lost a beat.

We always held our own or better recruiting against our BE peers.

The BE bottom feeders could always say come to me and you get to play the big boys. It is a ploy that never worked for them. It is not going to work for us in the ACC. Being smoked by a superior team is no fun for players or fans.

In the ACC we cannot recruit over the entrenched big boys. We are on their turf. They have ACC tradition and creed.

We still have facilities, fans and traditions, albeit less relevant to the ACC, so we will have our moments but the old days of consistent dominance are gone forever.

If some of the ACC football teams are poached, as is likely,, ACC revenue will be washed away. What would happen to us? Football would become a second tear program. Our football hopes would be gone. Our best hope for basketball would be to get back to our NE roots. JMO

As to the effect of sanctions. Louisville says hello. Sanctions hurt us more more than they hurt them. Within the ACC they are a better fit than us.

Roy won 14 and 18 his least two years. He just cut bait fast, wisely.

We play in a conference where 15 schools (for now) actually dump money into their sports programs and don’t rely on us to fill an NBA area for their payday.
