Delicious Rutgers schadenfreude

"It's amazing how ignorant these people are. One of these guys stated that he thought that Notre Dame got more of the New York market than Rutgers. Unbelievable."

Let's just be clear, the further away you get from New Brunswick the more you find that people have no freakin' idea where Rutgers is located, and wouldn't know their academic profile if it punched them in the face.

Let's be fair. As a Rutgers Law alum, I recognize that Rutgers is a pretty good school. I also concur that "name-wise", the Rutgers brand plays better away from New Jersey, where everyone knows it is the state college. Growing up in Upstate NY, friends of mine from several schools went to Rutgers, and we thought of it as a pretty good school to be going to - not quite Ivy League, like they pretend, but certainly a good solid B-level college. Not like going to a community college or most of the SUNY schools (except Binghamton and Albany, before their alums chime in ...).
