Demarcus Cousins demands trade

He will never play for the Kings again, so maybe he will get his way. They should have known better than to draft him. I hope he gets traded to the absolute worst team in the league.

I think every team in the NBA knew he would be like this. Sucks for the Kings to have wasted such a high pick on this dude.

Nyets are looking for a center. Do they have any more draft picks to trade or have they wasted all of them already?

Does he still get a paycheck? Could the Kings say that he is breaching a contract and just drop him without paying him anything?

I don't think it's a breach of contract to demand a trade.

I think this is much more a reflection on what an immature malcontent Cousins is than on the UK culture or behavior of "one-n-done's". Cousins is the exception, not the rule. He's always been a douche.

Fort the first time in his life everybody around him isn't kissing his ass or enabling him and so he wants to quit in hopes some other team will.

As mentioned above, every team in the NBA knew about his baggage when he was selected in the draft.

Ergo, I would conclude that his problems were well known when UK recruited him. Which is a not a good reflection on Calipari and UK.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell ya'... that DeMarcus ended up being as immature as everyone thought he'd be!

Three things:

1. Cousins's agent says Cousins told Westphal something like, "If you don't like me, trade me." If true, that's different than demanding a trade.

2. Even if the above explanation is a lie, if I ran the Kings, I'd probably give up on Westphal before Cousins.

3. As a Syracuse fan, at least I don't have to worry about former Orange players displaying questionable character in the NBA. (Ha ha!)

I was thinking about this on Saturday watching the Knicks-Kings game. I'm not sure if Cousins is more of a bad kid or an immature kid. I lean towards the latter, but at some point, you need to grow up.

If the reality is Cousins said something in the heat of the moment to the effect of trade me, that's not even that big of a deal to me.

Didnt I hear he was closer to demanding a trade from Cal when at Kentucky too?;)

And if schools should shy away from recruiting immature kids because it would reflect poorly on the program, there may as well not be college basketball.

Agreed. The skuttlebutt two years ago locally [i.e., Minneapolis] was that the Timberwolves were very interested in him, but he wouldn't even give them the time of day and interview with the team. I honestly can't say that I blame him, but when it looked like he was going to slide out of the top 2-3 picks, his representation tried to reach out to the Wolves brass to rekindle interest, but they didn't want to touch him with a 10 foot pole after how he conducted himself throughout the pre-draft process.

Talented kid with lots of potential, but a 10 cent head. More trouble than he's worth for any team.

best case scenario for the kings...hire cal

Cousins' trade demand is stupid. So are the comments that immature alumni reflect poorly on a school because the coach "should have known." Good old hindsight. If I had that attitude, I would have been calling for Waiters' head last year. Good thing JB isn't that short-sighted.

Cal shouldn't have recruited him because they should have predicted he wouldn't adapt to the NBA? He performed for UK. UK did quite well with him. Do you blame Cal for the economy, tsunamis and hurricanes? Calipari isn't that bad. He's only card number 44 in the Terrorists Deck of Playing Cards.

Use hyperbole much?

My point is that NBA teams knew about his attitude, and some were not interested in drafting him.

And, a number of college teams did not recruit him for the same reason. But, Cal doesn't mind pushing the envelope, to put it mildly--see Bledsoe. And UK will put up with a lot as long as they win basketball games.

Id sit his fat carcass ass on the bench all year and give him the finger every time I passed him if I were his coach. him. He is a POS.

That's just what I thought. Eat the contract, let him go without basketball for the season.

This is a weird story. It may have been something where he said trade me in the heat of the battle, in an argument or something. Probably not that big of a deal.

Eh, when they tell you to stay home it has to be a pretty big deal. I'm sure this is an ongoing thing with the kid for them to reach this point.

Along the lines of what someone else said, try to work out a trade for Anthony Davis, it should be an equal deal under the salary cap. Hell, UK may save some money on the deal.
