demetres samuel jr will be cb 1 for sure but i think he will thrive and start to lock down corners in my opinion I don’t see a lot of elite WRs on the schedule this year he will go against .
I think on offense he will get spot minutes and be a fun gadget guy maybe 4 or 5 touchdowns we will be to scheme up plays for him.

If he gives us anything on offense I'll be thrilled. Way more important for the team to have him shine on defense.

Duce thrived as a true frosh, so anything is possible.

Then again, he played alongside a great lockdown corner. Asking Samuels to be THE lockdown corner seems like a lot to ask.

But he's highly rated. And we have a need there. Glad he played in spring ball, to accelerate his readiness.

I wonder what his rank would have been if he remained in this upcoming HS class?

Top 100 raked kid? Top 10 S/CB?

He returned an interception for a touchdown in my first game of NCAA 26. I expect one in every game now
Season 3 Nbc GIF by The Office

Top 5 player in the country. #1 CB... according the Fran. Not sure whose idea it was to enroll a year early but we probably don't get him if he didn't.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we landed Samuels early, then he decommitted and committed to 2 other schools, but then came back to Fran late last fall and indicated that he wanted to come here despite decommitting. And then he enrolled early.

Very interesting series of events, and we usually don't have things work out favorably in these kind of situations -- but looks like it did this time.

I expect him to turn this lower case letters into CAPITALS

He's going to have a few amazing games and a few absolutely clunkers.

I could see against maybe Colgate or UConn he catches a TD and gets an INT. I think he's huge talent but trying to keep things reasonable.
This. He's going to turn some heads and make some plays, he's also going to have some "welcome to college football" moments. There's only so much a 17 year old can do against a 23 year old super senior.

Really excited to watch him. Just find it hard to believe he’s going to see reps at wr in meaningful games this year. That room seems quite deep and the need at CB is so high.
I could see some WR reps in meaningful games but it doesn't seem like it would be too many reps just due to the talent at WR ahead of him and like you said, the need at CB. I was surprised to hear him in a recent interview, saying he was taking 50/50 reps at each position starting fall camp.

If you expect him to be your starting CB, you would think he would be devoting at least a bit more time on that side of the ball.

We have had a few solid frosh DBs.

I think he flipped to Florida and flipped back and that was it. There was a ton of pressure on him to go to UF.

Izayia Williams is the one on his 654th commitment right now.
