Agreed 1000%. I'm not sure people realize how widely the sport is now played.
When I first moved to Northern New Jersey in 1988, there were maybe 4 or 5 high schools in all of North Jersey that fielded lacrosse teams.
Fast forward to 2005, or so, and my town had just started a youth lacrosse program.
Fast forward to today and my town, and virtually all the towns around us, now have lacrosse programs that start in first grade with teams that go all the way up and feed the high school program.
In addition, you now have a number of club lacrosse teams in the immediate area where kids, who want to, can play all year.
The days of Upstate NY, Long Island and Baltimore being the only hotbeds of lacrosse are long over...
SU still has an advantage because of the great local programs, and the great coaching that comes with playing for those programs, but that advantage is no longer as overwhelming as it once was...
