This is the same judge who has put the I81 overpass project on hold for the Save 81 group. It will be interesting to see what happens here and if the statue gets removed. The folks behind save the monument group include Nick Pirro and John DeFrancisco.

"Syracuse, N.Y. -- A local group that sued to stop Syracuse from removing the Columbus statue says it will appeal a recent court’s decision that would have paved the way for the city to move ahead with removing the monument.

The appellate judges found that the[I][B] [/B][/I]group’s lawsuit was premature because the decision to remove the statue had not gone through all the administrative steps needed for approval.

The monument group said Tuesday that they found issues in that decision that need to be reviewed by the Court of Appeals, the state’s highest appeals court.
