The writer is not wrong and Nick Paro is the absolute worst, he whored himself to Pilot and Destiny for a short term gain. In no way are the plans to put in the community grid going to change, just delayed to the detriment of the people that live here. https://www.syracuse.com/opinion/2023/08/oh-the-irony-salina-likes-truck-stops-more-than-the-trucks-your-letters.html To the Editor: "With regard to “Liverpool declares war on big trucks, sending rigs from Amazon and others around the crowded village” (July 31, 2023), I found myself on the brink of laughing as I read the story. For about a decade, the present and former Salina town supervisors fought the Interstate 81 community grid because rerouting I-81 (in other words, giving I-81 through Salina a name change) would lead to the total failure and collapse of all the businesses in Salina, including the Pilot truck stop on Seventh North Street — in Liverpool. It was on behalf of the truck stop and other businesses that Nick Paro joined the Renew 81 lawsuit attempting to halt the I-81 viaduct project in court. And yet now we are told that instead of being a business powerhouse at the Crossroads of New York State, Liverpool is a “residential village” whose residents wish to “maintain the quality of life” in the village by not having big, lumbering trucks going through their streets, and the same Nick Paro fighting in court to save a truck stop is joining with the mayor of Liverpool to support the rerouting of trucks. Granted, they would still reach the truck stop, but apparently Salina likes the truck stop more than the trucks. Irony could not be more delicious." Michael J. Gallagher
