I hate it when I tell someone I am from Upstate NY and they reply "Oh, I 've been to NYC before". Like they are totally oblivious to the fact that that New York extends beyond Long Island.

I travel for work a lot... it’s absolutely amazing to me what this entire country thinks NY is.

Same thing all the time, “I’m from NY”... oh man, what’s it like growing up in the big city? “No, I’m from upstate/central NY”... like Queens? “No, like the huge fluckling land mass to the NorthWest!”
