Damn that’s a tough one. I’m down to Mark McDonald or Doug Womack. I’ll go with McDonald.Okay, trivia question that only the hard core will get right. Name Syracuse's starting QB for that game. No googling!
I know that Wendell Lowry finshed the game .. .with 2 TD's
Yes he did.
I was shocked to see we played in Japan in 1989.
It seems like a crazy amount of travel for 1 game.
Did anyone go and what was it like?
I believe McDonald started, but got injured in the 2nd quarter.I was thinking he started the game. Maybe I was wrong.
Wendall Lowery went nuts then was never heard from again.
He was academically ineligible in 1990, and we had some kid named Graves.
Ah, the Coca-Cola Bowl.Another trivia question...
Lowry threw 2 50+ yard TD passes...
Who caught them?
Ah, the Coca-Cola Bowl.
I'm thinking Carpenter. Or maybe one was Moore?

Lowrey was called to action in the second quarter when starter Mark McDonald went down with an injury to his right ankle.
I was there.
I'm pretty sure Billy Schar started and got hurt or couldn't play due to injury. Mark McDonald got hurt and Wendel Lowery came in and had the game of his life.
It was a big win and a lot of fun.
SU beat Temple 73-56 in a basketball game at the Dome that night. I remember listening to the football game in the Manley parking lot. Lowery had a couple of long TD throws. I think we'd recruited him away from FSU and it was felt he was going to be the next great on. Instead it turned out to be Marvin Graves. Buddy P wrote that "In life there are Gladys Knights and then there are Pips. Marvin Graves is Gladys Knight and the other guys are Pips.
They are talking about a London NFL team, and that it might be the Jags, (which would make Doug Marrone the first coach of the London whatevers). What ever happened to the effort to introduce American FB to Japan?
