during the ESPN broadcast that CMU had 10 guys in the NFL? We have five. At least we are tied with California...of PA.

Let that sober you up for a bit. We have a long, long way to go.

Not even sure I can name the 5.

Dixon. Pugh. Uh... Jones. Bromley? Lynch?

I think everyone else was cut.

Here are the six that i see

Jay Bromley New York Giants Defensive Tackle
Riley Dixon Denver Broncos Punter
Brisly Estime New York Jets Wide Receiver
Chandler Jones Arizona Cardinals Linebacker
Cameron Lynch Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebacker
Justin Pugh New York Giants Guard

I think Estime is on injured reserve or something. So 5 active players is correct. These were all GRob and Marrone recruits as well, maybe Estimate is the loan FHCSS recruit. Sobering indeed.

A lot of schools can claim like 8 or more. Long way to go for sure but Southern Mississippi has like 11. I'll put more stock in HOFers

It's 11 if you count JJ Watt.

Ugh.

But, But, Scott Shafer was a great person!

Put more stock in HOFers for what?

Point stands that our program has not had elite level talent in quantity for a really long time.

I don't disagree with you but Rutgers has 15 guys in the NFL... so what? SMU has over 10.. LSU has a ton but did nothing with 2 very good receivers and an NFL quarterback ... this is just another stat for SU fans to complain about when in all reality all it shows is Dino has to climb out of a hole .. which we knew

Texas has been in a drought too, no? That will change. Major studs on that team now. Their MLB, 6'6 receiver, and DL as a whole are outstanding.

NC state had 5 quarterbacks playing in the NFL yesterday. let that sink in a bit...

And NC State has largely been sucky to mediocre during that time frame. Better than us, but damn - they've lived in that same just under good for their entire existence.

Hence my we need talent post last week.

Shafer may go 3 recruiting classes without a Syracuse player being drafted in the NFL draft.

These guys might get a look at playing on Sundays:

Slayton
Zaire (if Lynch can do it, he can)
Paris ( natural playmaker, would need a late growth spurt, lol)
ED
Irv
Ish
Custis

Of course the offensive guys would need to put up #'s against the top competition coming up on the schedule. The rest of the schedule could be an opportunity to audition, the ultimate litmus test.

More stock in HOFers than current players in the NFL?

Great for way-back-when bar stories. Not likely good when speaking to the amount of wins over the past 17 years.

There is a reason why we have not been in the Top 25 in 13 years.

Lol. Zaire only one with a "chance"

The only one with a realistic shot is Slayton.

Reminder that the primary argument of the I Stand With Shafer brigade was that he was radically improving recruiting. Yeesh.

The way everyone talks about Alabama every year, you would think that every player in the NFL should have ties to Saban. It just doesn't work that way. There are good players everywhere, and some blossom late in their collegiate careers, which is why they come from places like CMU and not the bigger P5 conference schools. Same thing happens in the NBA, but the numbers are lower because the rosters are smaller. Scottie Pippen was not a highly touted guy, but his game translated well to the pros. On the other hand, guys like Ryan Leaf and the dude who Cleveland drafted were supposed to be the best QBs ever...and they tanked. You just never know.

I have faith that Babers will develop talent and get kids in the league. Hell, his offense made a 5th year transfer WR into a stud...and a record holder at SU.

Our time will come. Patience.
